My dad played and coached for NAU and they made it to March Madness one year and so of course my dad is a fan but he made my sister and I bigger fans. I can’t remember a year I haven’t done a march madness bracket. When I was younger and didn’t get the concept I’d still do it. My dad would say the red team or the purple team, then it went to the bulldogs or the tigers just so it stayed exciting to me no matter the age.

For the players, it’s basically their time to shine. You see those moments where a sophomore who barely got any minutes all season suddenly hits a game-winning three, and it’s insane. The tournament gives them a platform to show off their skills, fight for their school’s pride, and create memories they and we will never forget.

Of course, we can’t talk about March Madness without mentioning brackets. Filling out a bracket is basically a rite of passage. It’s fun, competitive, and stressful all at once. For fans, this show is more than entertainment, I think it’s an education. You get to see the grind of training camp, the pressure of making a roster, and the emotions that come with both triumph and heartbreak. Those “bubble players” fighting for a spot are often just as compelling as the superstars. The Importance of Club Sports in College

#From the moment most of us start grade school at four or five, we’re thrown into sports soccer, tee ball, gymnastics, swimming, you name it. As we grow up, we try different activities until we find the one we really love and feel good at. By the time high school rolls around, sports are a huge part of life for many students, whether it’s playing for their school team, a club team, or both. But here’s the reality: fewer than 10% of high school athletes will go on to play in college. Maybe they aren’t quite at that level, maybe the schools they’re accepted to don’t have the program they want, or maybe they just want the big-school experience without the demands of Division I or II athletics. Whatever the reason, many of these athletes still have a deep love for their sport and can’t imagine life without it. That’s where college club sports come in. They’re the perfect middle ground for athletes who want to attend a bigger school but also keep playing the sport they love. I play club volleyball at the University of South Carolina, and it’s been one of my favorite parts of college. It’s still competitive, we practice twice a week, travel for 3–4 tournaments each semester, and compete against other schools. More importantly, it’s given me a community. Whenever I’m homesick, stressed with classes, or just need a reset, volleyball is my outlet. Being on this team has shaped my college experience in so many ways, and as I head into my third year, I’m excited for what’s ahead. If you’re on the fence, take this as your sign try out. Dani Busboom Kelly is officially making her debut as Nebraska’s Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, and with that announcement, not a single player entered the transfer portal. That in itself speaks volumes. Busboom Kelly is no stranger to the Cornhuskers. Back in 2006, she played libero for Nebraska and led her team to a national championship. About a decade later, she returned as an assistant coach before taking on the head coaching role at Louisville. During her seven years there, she completely turned the program around, setting records and building Louisville into a powerhouse. Now, with John Cook (Nebraska head coach) retiring after an incredible 25 seasons and leaving behind a legendary legacy, Busboom Kelly steps into one of the most high-profile roles in college volleyball. In today’s era of the transfer portal where leaving is easier and more common than ever it would have been understandable to see players move on after a coaching change. Instead, every player chose to stay. To me, this shows just how unique Nebraska volleyball really is. The tradition, the community, and the trust between players and coaches run so deep that it creates a culture you don’t find everywhere else. I truly believe if this situation happened at most other programs, you’d see transfers right away.That’s what makes this season so exciting. The players’ loyalty and belief in Busboom Kelly prove that Nebraska volleyball is built on more than just wins it’s built on history, trust, and family. I can’t wait to watch them this fall and see what they accomplish under their new leader.

The Rise of Caitlin Clark

NCAA's all-time leading scorer in both men's and women's college basketball, a two-time AP Player of the Year, in her rookie WNBA season, she was named Rookie of the Year and made the All-WNBA First Team. Doubling previous attendance records all because of one person. Caitlin Clark has in my opinion, single handly skyrocketed the viewership for all womens basketball from her time at Iowa, to her new home as a Indiana Fever. Her crazy logo 3 pointers and her no look passes are what keep these people so entertained. As a female, watching her bring such a name to womens basketball is one of the coolest things I've seen in sports. The amount of love and attention these women are receiving, I didn’t know was possible. I may not have been alive to watch Michael Jordan become the greatest of all time, but I think it’s pretty special that I get to witness Caitlin Clark rewriting history right in front of us.

What Makes The Masters Golf Tournament So Iconic?

Tradition unlike any other. The Masters being one of the four major golf tournaments is one of the biggest events in the golf world. But what makes it so special? Is it history? The course? The exclusiveness with the no phone policy? Growing up in a sports household, I became very familiar with the game of golf from a young age. The Majors, the scoring, the players you name it, and I knew it. But every time April was around the corner, I have the fondest memories of watching The Masters on the couch all day from Thursday-Sunday. The mystery of the Masters is what intrigues so many people to want to step foot on Augusta National property. I am incredibly fortunate to have been able to work the last two Master’s and it was more than what I could ever imagine. The greenest of grass that is in fact real, the placement of flowers and azaleas that from a far doesn’t even look real. The food and beverages being anywhere from $1 - $5. And for the merch store, you never see anyone restocking items, it’s just always full, and why can’t I bring my phone? So how do they do it? Through my golf and tourism class I took, I got to learn about a lot of the behind the scene operations of this historic tournament. But there's so much more I just don’t know. They are one secretive place, which I think keeps the magic alive no matter the age you are.
