He nodded his head, making a mental note to send links to his recommendations to Gabby later on whenever they werenât sitting down to eat. Hopefully she would enjoy them as much as he did. âI donât understand nor have tasted half of what you said, but I did hear rum and chocolate so itâs gotta be good, right? Sounds like the most delicious thing Iâll ever get to try, if Iâm being honest. Donât feel pressured to make me some, but if you find yourself bored with nothing to doâŠI wonât complain.â Chuckling, he reached for his water and took a sip. The booth they were sitting in was tucked away in the corner, away from most of the diners. It was nice and quiet, and a good place to have a conversation.Â
The thought of going to her place and having her cook him a meal made him feel nervous, but it was a good kind of nervous. He couldnât help but feel a little excited as well, due to the fact that it meant he would be spending more time with her. Any chance he got, he would be taking it. âNot a problem. If it wasnât for you having to wake me up back there, you probably would have missed the rain. But uh, yeah. Iâd like to have dinner again. Maybe Iâll bring dessertâŠwell, maybe not. I feel like anything Iâd bring wouldnât be as good as what you could make. Iâll bring the drinks?â
A small, bemused smile bloomed at his words, her eyes fluttering over him and then down to her place setting. âItâs very good. Iâm quite the chocolate lover, actually. Chocolate croissants are still my favorite though, when I indulge myself.â It wasnât very often that she did, other than to taste components of her pastries. âI do enjoy using alcohol in baking and cooking. It can add a complexity and I enjoy playing with the flavors of it.â She almost told him that she was a lightweight and often rambled when she drank, giggled and became overly affectionate, but the girl managed to shut herself up before that came out. âOf course Iâll make you some. I think youâd like it a lot.â
Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as he agreed to have dinner. She felt so giddy at the idea. Then, the realization hit that she was going to have him over, for dinner, and the nerves were quick to follow. The food would be the easy part. It was everything else, like what to wear, making sure that her place looked just right, her hair, and makeup that would consume her. âIâd be more than happy with anything you made, but then I wouldnât get to show off as much.â She bit her lip, but she was beaming. Her words were true, any effort he put in, sheâd be enamored by, even if it was boxed brownie mix. But she thought it might be a nice time to make him the sweet theyâd been speaking of. âDrinks would be lovely. But, mostly Iâm just looking forward to you bringing yourself.â
