My favorite interpretation is that the word "children" in Sky: Children of the Light is not literal children but as a collective term like how "children of god" would mean.

They grow up not just by time but by experience. They will have mastery over repeated situations. They will experience emotions and they will learn from it. They will fall in love. They will feel anguish and betrayal and all ugly emotions. They will lead and mentor younger ones. And the cycle shall repeat, hopefully for the better.

They are molded from the people who once lived in the lands we fly in, the ones who become our spirits now. They are as human as we players.

The only difference in the sky children is that they are not made of flesh... They are made in a material that can hold the light, invulnerable other than a few factors.

We are rebuilding this once fallen world and we will fail if we're all remained as children.

He’ll lazily loop an arm over your shoulder during a debriefing. Or he’ll lean his weight on your back and rest his chin on your head. Sometimes he’ll take your hand in his, hiding them under his big sleeves. And other times, he’ll mindlessly rest his palm on your thigh and draw lazy circles.

Sometimes, it feels like he wants something from you. Maybe your reactions? You always jump before relaxing against him, never able to hear his footsteps until he's behind you. Or maybe he wants your power? He says your vital instrument is a game-changer. Unlike anything he's seen before.

But he'll do this thing, where he takes a thread off of Tokushin and wraps it around your ring finger to keep track of you during missions, and it's your favorite thing in the world. Like the red string of fate that leads him right to you, but instead, it's a vibrant navy color.
