It’s our fairy tale, the story of a little girl who can’t find her place in the world because she’s too pure and fragile. It tells, through a sweet melody, a journey that gradually becomes more and more distressing, that seems hopeless. [...] “Coraline” needs a clarification: it’s not the story of the knight saving the damsel in distress. The story ends badly, there is no happy ever after. It’s something real, it’s the withering of this flower, of this girl, and the knight is helpless and powerless in the face of what is happening. As for the name Coraline, it’s not inspired by the cartoon, by the film. The choice of the name is purely musical, phonetic. The story is a real story, one I will not talk about right now, turned into a fairy tale, and everyone can interpret it as they wish.
