Well, this turned out to be quite the little event.
"It’s very kind of you but I don’t think there’s anything you can do. She’s dead or she left me and either way that leaves me by myself. I should start taking things like that, alone.”, she replied, not wanting him to feel any pity for her and to want to help her because of it.
"You aren't alone, don't think that for a second," he shook his head,"I have always viewed you as a good companion of mine and I will continue to. Whatever happened to Lillian, she probably wasn't willing."
"I miss my family." She lied. Sophia also shrugged. "That’s it. Nothing you didn’t know already."
"And you didn't think I missed mine when I was just turned?" He spoke a perk of his brow,"I had a lover, I had a daughter and I left them both behind when I was turned. It isn't easy and the pain never goes away, you just become numb to it."
Is it really only just now June?
Well, yeah, wasn’t that a requirement up until a decade or so ago?
Try centuries ago.
"Nothing you would understand, I’m sure." No, Gabriel was far too much of a vampire to understand the human feelings that she was having to deal with at the moment. "Nothing you wouldn’t look at me and feel sorry for my pathetic self, so I’d rather not share with you."
"I have lived two thousand years, my human life would spur nothing but pity from anyone else. Do not think that you know how I would react to your words, as I am known to surprise people."
Evelyn stood quiet for a few seconds then sat down, her eyes locked on the wall in front of her. Lilian had always taught her to never rely on anyone, to never trust anyone but herself and Evelyn followed her advice though the older vampire had always been her rock, her shelter, who she went running back to when she needed help. Sure, Gabriel and Evelyn were what could be called friends but at the end of the day she knew she meant nothing to him or so she thought. Knowing that there was no one else she could turn to anymore made her stomach turn, her brain started storming and her legs felt weak. Evelyn was overwhelmed by the same emotions that she once had felt all those centuries ago, when her family disowned her and she knew she was alone, though she had always pretended she needed no one but herself, that was a lie she had carried for far too long.
From the moment Lilian didn’t come to her when she called, Evelyn knew she was most likely dead. The elder had said it herself, the day she wouldn’t come would be the day she wasn’t walking this earth anymore. Hope was the last thing to die, right? Or so it should’ve been. “Thank you for your time.”, was all she said, standing up, putting the mask back on, not letting any emotion transcend her skin.
Both Lillian and Evelyn had been old friends of his and even though he wasn't one to show emotions, he wasn't going to just let Evelyn deal with this on her own. Even he had his limits.
"Evelyn, you do not have to leave. I will help you anyway I can."
Is it really only just now June?
Only sometimes? You had me fooled.
I am a good actor.
Is it really only just now June?
"Enough?" What’s enough? Enough to recognize hunger pangs and have a little drink?
I feel that, I also feel annoyance, anger, and sometimes even smugness.
Evelyn furrowed her brows, her eyes narrowing in distress. As old as she was considered in human years, she was nothing compared to Gabriel. Obviously, the older vampire knew much more about these things than she did. The thought that Lilian had died or worse, had left her make her chest ache — which rarely happened, with anything. “Mind explaining?”
"I have not heard from Lillian in quite some time which isn't unusual for her, she likes her space," Gabriel retorted, crossing his arms across his chest. "However, there have been rumors that something much more dangerous is going on, to only the supernatural. It's a disease that is deteriorating people's brains and slowly making them go crazy. If it has happened to Lillian, there is no telling where she could be. Dead or alive."
I’m sure it appears to be a downside, but maybe we’re the ones missing out.
The blood isn't as appetizing until you have fangs.
"I’m not feeling very vampiristic lately."
"That may be a good thing if you don't want to be the same as I am," Gabriel replied with a perk of his brow,"what is it that you are feeling?"
I bet, really is there a downside?
Some think the blood drinking is.
Sophia pulled her hand away from his grasp, feeling the quick sting of pain course through her arm and fade away just as she dropped her arm on her side. “Yeah, I’m sorry you lack the humanity I seek as well.” Although she might have been angry, with her emotions all over the place, Sophia ended up sad, looking away as her last words to him replayed in her head.
"What is going on?" He spoke firmly, looking down at her. His tall form looming over her. "You seem...unstable, why haven't you been feeding regularly?"
Is it really only just now June?
No, I guess you wouldn’t, but you don’t feel much I suppose.
I feel enough.
True, must be nice not having to worry about aging.
It is certainly one of the better perks of vampirism.
"Why? So you can laugh at me and treat me like a child when it’s the last thing I need at the moment? No, thank you." She was quick to pick the duffle bag up and, with her free hand, she grabbed a hold of Gabriel’s arm, practically dragging him outside. "How dare you bring this to my aunt’s place? I would say thank you, but I’m choosing to be a brat at the moment, so please leave."
"Your aunt and I have an understanding, I have known her longer than I have ever known you," he placed his freehand on her wrist, squeezing it roughly. "Do not get smart with me, little girl. If you don't want to be treated like one, don't act like one. You are the one who asked for my help, I am sorry I lack the humanity you seem to seek."
