During the pandemic, there has been an increase in xenophobic and racist attacks towards the Asian community. Trump referring to the virus as the 'Chinese virus' and the ' Kung flu' has only promoted more hate crimes towards Asians, from being verbally harassed and spat on to physical assault.
Reported attacks:
84-year-old Thai immigrant in San Francisco died after being violently shoved during his morning walk
89-year-old Chinese woman was slapped and set on fire by two people in Brooklyn, New York
Asian American restaurant employees in New York leave work early to avoid violence or harassment
These are only a few things that have happened. It's only going to continue to get worse if people don't do anything.
