'Cuy, vode. Peep my Mandalorian OC, Jhett Morut.
He’s one of three characters (at least for now) I’m designing around a question that’s been on my mind a lot lately; what do you do when the galaxy (or, ya know) tries to take your freedom?
Freedom. Independence. Autonomy. Agency. These things are precious, and they feel increasingly relevant right now, both in the world around us and in my own life. Creating characters like Jhett is a way for me to explore that idea; what it means to fight for your freedom, to hold onto it, and to refuse to let anyone take it from you.
Jhett embodies that mindset. A wanderer, a warrior, and someone who believes freedom isn’t something granted by authority, it’s something you claim and defend.
Anyway, hope y’all vibe with the character sheet. Artists are absolutely welcome to draw him if the design speaks to you (if it does, feel free to take creative liberty for the tattoos, particularly the arm and leg sleeves. Black them out if you want, idc, whatever is easiest. Ask for details first before romantic and/or seggsual pairings with your characters pls, if that’s ur thing). Enjoy. K’oyacyi! Oya! 🤘
Name: Jhett Morut
Species: Nagai
Affiliation: Mandalorians
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Age: Twenties
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 145-160 Pounds
Alignment: Neutral-Chaotic Good. Anti-Imperial
Attributes:
- Lean, athletic musculature with low body fat
- Pale skin
- Gray eyes
- Pointed ears
- Various tattoos and piercings
- Black painted nails
- Naturally jet black hair. Sometimes dyed silver
Combat Style: Jhett excels in martial prowess. He is a skilled gunslinger, but has a strong preference towards close quarters fighting, and has great interest in bladed combat. He is agile and precise, yet unorthodox and unpredictable. A highly disciplined and efficient warrior.
Personality & Traits: Observant, methodical, and deliberate. Though often a solitary lone-wolf, Jhett is deeply compassionate towards the very few he trusts. He values freedom, individuality, and personal expression. In combat he becomes intensely focused, precise, ruthless, and efficient when necessary.
Ideals: Jhett believes freedom and independence is a universal right. Everyone has the right to pursue a meaningful life of peace, liberty, and happiness by virtue of being alive. He believes those with power and influence must be held accountable. He has a strong sense of justice, and an incompatibility with authority. He is loyal to chosen family and allies, and has intense Mandalorian pride.
Background: Jhett’s Nagai ancestors migrated to The Galaxy generations ago and were eventually accepted into Mandalorian society. Born and raised among Mandalorians, Jhett considers himself Mandalorian first, though he remains aware of his Nagai heritage. Raised with strong cultural values… freedom, honor, loyalty, and independence… he developed into a capable warrior at a young age. Jhett spends his time traveling the Galaxy, experiencing and exploring. When he needs to make a buck, he’ll take dangerous contracts that align with his personal code. Though he occasionally works as a bounty hunter or mercenary, he specializes in training planetary militias and quietly helping resistance movements prepare to defend themselves. His growing reputation is that of a deadly but principled warrior.
Internal Conflict: Freedom vs Attachment. Jhett values freedom above all. But caring about people creates vulnerability, conflict, and complications. The more he protects others, the less free he truly is in his line of work. There are very few he truly lets get close, but with those few, the bond is strong.
Visual Motifs: Recurring design themes will include crescent moons and daggers, sometimes combined into a single symbol. The crescent moon represents Jhett’s Nagai heritage, nocturnal temperament, and life among the stars. The dagger represents Mandalorian discipline, martial skill, and deadly precision. These symbols can frequently appear in tattoos, fashion, makeup, jewelry and accessories.
Artist Notes:
- Lean athletic physique. Strong, explosive, quick, but not bulky. Movements should feel agile and precise.
- Particularly developed lats, shoulders, and upper back muscles from learning how to punch people in the face.
- Sharp, pointed canine teeth.
- Personal style mixes practicality with expressive individuality, something shared among Mandalorians and Nagai.
- Often wears painted nails, silver and/or black jewelry, and unique fashion details.
- Covered in tattoos and piercings.
- I don’t believe I drew it well, and I cba to fix it by the time of posting, but the intention for the hair is a messy wolf cut.
Civilian Clothing: All black, with silver accents. Jhett usually wears expressive clothing that also allows for flexible movement. He likes high collared long coats, as well as leather jackets and vests, paired with heavy, tall, or chunky boots.
Reputation: Among fringe worlds and resistance groups, Jhett is known as a reliable warrior and instructor. Imperial authorities consider him a dangerous insurgent and have placed bounties on him in multiple sectors. Will aid Fenn Shysa and the Mando Cabure for a time. Is sympathetic towards the Rebellion.
