Sometimes being loud and silly is the only thing that keeps me going. It is the only thing that I think makes me likable. But then it feels like I'm annoying the people around me. So I stop it. And then people get so confused when I go silent, not knowing that's probably the real me.

I was half asleep when my father woke me up and asked me to apply mehndi on my mother's hand. (Since it is the month of Shravana and there is this mahotsav/get-together thingy coming up).

My mother told him not to wake me up (multiple times even!), but he was like it would take her only 10 minutes to complete the work, and sleeping 10 minutes less won't affect her much. (Plot twist papa hehe)

Anyways at first I was kinda annoyed because of course I was sleeping at a reasonable time after 2? 3? days.. but I woke up and went ahead.

Am I sleep deprived? Yes.

Is my mother capable of doing it herself? Yeees.

But would I ever pass this opportunity? No, gosh no.

(My mother and I have this little ritual in which whenever she has to apply mehndi she would ask me to do so late at night so that it does not affect her working during the day. And I love these moments where my mother is just trying to ward off her sleep so as to not disrupt me drawing on her hand and visibly failing, my father occasionally peeking from scrolling through his phone nearby and chuckling at me who is trying hard to find a convenient way to draw on her hand properly while allowing her to keep sleeping.)
