Question for Uhura fans about SNW
why does uhura get so little attention in snw and why is the character used so little? Why is chapel so popular that the creators shove her down our throats every 5 minutes.
what has gone wrong? anyone care to explain.
I will start by stating the obvious.
a miscast actress. who does not have the look or is the right age.
SNW has had entire episodes and arcs with Uhura, where in TOS she was basically a background telephone operator.
Why do you feel SNW has barely used her? And what do you mean by her look?
As for age, that may be a bit of a retcon to make up for the fact that TOS Uhura was a low-ranking lieutenant when the actress was 36. Then again, we don't know how old the character was in TOS, do we? And I had no idea Nichols was in her mid to late 30s during TOS until Googling it just now - I thought she was younger.
she is underused compared to other girls even critics say so. she does not get near the attention of chapel and laan. the show is the chapel show.
also I would still take tos uhura anhy day. apparently in snw black girls must be uglyfied to get more attention.
I don't care what critics say. I was asking you.
I think she has gotten a lot of attention over the course of the series.
You don't like Chapel. Ok. But that has nothing to do with this character.

Riker Maneuver_subcategory: tricking CO into buying sex totem.
(I just noticed for the first time that Deanna absolutely knows what a Horga'hn is and even rolls her eyes when Riker mentions it)
Can’t remember what episode this is from but I’m absolutely obsessed with this screenshot. I think it’s Data’s totally blank expression combined with Worf being completely taken aback.

I get it, Spock. I hate crumbs on the table, too.

SPOCK: From 1992 through 1996, absolute ruler of more than a quarter of your world. From Asia through the Middle East... I used to sleep with his great-granddaughter.
McCOY: What??
SPOCK: Captain Kirk slept with her too, in another timeline.
KIRK: What??

Me to me when I repeat past mistakes when I know better
I've seen quite a few criticisms about the ending of "Terarium" and the twist with the Metrons being unnecessary. Many felt that it was shoehorned in to fit TOS continuity and that it detracted from the episode.
And you know what, I agree.
They didn't need to be there.
This is the problem I have when it comes to "canon".
Personally, im not a stickler for it. I never have been. I've always been open about shows playing a little with their timelines, canons, etc. It doesn't matter to me at all. Now, mind you, if you are a stickler for Canon, that's perfectly fine, nothing wrong with that. But, in the case of this episode, i think this is where sticking to Canon and the curse of being a prequel get in the way. This episode would have made my top three in SNWs if it wasn't for the Metrons. Idgaf about this episode fitting into TOS I really dont, and I feel like SNWs had to throw them in there to quell continuity/Canon complaints, and im like, "Why?"
And why are the Metrons basing their experiment on La'an's decision? Ortegas proved that there is potential for peace and cooperation between both species. Why would you dismiss that based on the actions of one person who never had the same experience? Idk, that made my eyebrows raise.
This is nothing against the episode at all, I still loved it. I just feel that having to stick to rigid Canon can take away from a story and box in a lot of creative decisions.
Idk, maybe im not making sense, but it's something that was running through my mind last night when I thought about the biggest thing that bothered me in an otherwise great episode.
If any of you have a different interpretation, id love to hear it. I enjoy different perspectives. Just keep it respectful.
I don't feel it was shoehorned in at all. The episode was set up from the beginning to have a mysterious force behind the whole situation. Gorn. Human. Stuck together on a planet. That has Metron written all over it, baby.
What decision did the Metron make because of La'an's actions? To erase Ortegas's memory of the experience? Who is to say that wouldn't have happened no matter how the experiment turned out?
