Diplopia
Projection Mapping project from Onionlab is designed to be experienced using 3D anaglyph glasses:
Diplopia is an stereoscopic piece that revolves around the concept of binocular vision, that is to say, how our eyes merge two separate images to perceive a single object. Two different points of view that arise as a consequence of binocular disparity. In keeping with the main theme of the FIMG 2015—contradictions—, Diplopia focuses on opposing concepts, such as light and darkness, flexible versus rigid, near and far, noise and silence, wet and dry… The volumetric contrasts and illusion of depth create images intended to confuse, unsettle and fascinate the public.

DIY Manual for Urban Projection
Continuing the subject of art and projection, here is a very brief talk from Ali Momeni who is putting together a book to inspire lo-fi creative projects using light:

Alex: A Manual for Urban Projection is the first book to come out of this project. Who is it meant for? What do you hope will come out of its publication?
Ali: We wrote A Manual for Urban Projection for a broad range of people. It’s made to be readable in 1-hour, easily photocopiable, and it’s highly pictorial. We think it’ll be useful for artists, activists, community organizers or citizens at large who see potential in sharing images and ideas in public spaces. We really believe that the medium of urban projection is approachable to many more people outside of large-scale spectacle producers and advertisement companies, and the manual is an attempt to open those doorways.

483 Threads
Installation by Kimchi & Chips uses projection and a screen made up of 483 horizontal threads which produces illusions of depth:
From World War II up until the recent end of analogue broadcasts, decades of living imagery had been constructed using the NTSC standard. This standard represents a moving image frame as 483 lines of modulated light stacked from the top to the bottom of a television screen, within each line there is an analogue continuum, like the groove on a record player. From Nam Jun Paik to the moon landings, pictures were being represented, archived and seen within this format, until the line made way for the pixel and the digital video revolution.
The artwork 483 lines magnifies this analogue video picture until it is 16 meters wide, and then folds this image several times so that it fits vertically into the gallery space, therein adding oscillations of depth into the image which can be activated by ‘tuning’ the projected video to match these waves. At this scale, each line of video can be individually inspected as its own agent beyond its contribution to the total image. This follows a common motif within the artists work, to create 2 scales of experience, this time the beating panoramic imagery contrasts the delicate physicality of the fine thread elements.

IDLE TIME is digital art; a fine-art series of video depictions that speaks to a contemporary idea of what a portrait is. Today's society consumes new information digitally, instantly, constantly. The viewer expects to be stimulated by streams of content before attention is diverted. IDLE TIME adds a dimension to standard portraiture. This is an interactive art piece using portraits which activate using motion sensors. The photography was beautifully shot by Braden Summers.

The little people run around and do not notice us, but touch the little people or the floating bubbles and the world of the blackboard world will change in response to the touch.
