""Pulse Index" is an interactive installation that records participants’ fingerprints at the same time as it detects their heart rates. The piece displays data for the last 765 and over participants in a stepped display that creates a horizon line of skin. To participate, people introduce their finger into a custom-made sensor equipped with a 220x digital microscope and a heart rate sensor; their fingerprint immediately appears on the largest cell of the display, pulsating to their heart beat."

Went to the coolest interactive art instillation today. I was mesmerized by the hypnotic, meditative experience. It was like walking through a dream.

Lapiz: The Tequila Cloud

has been on show in Berlin and lets visitors fill a shot glass with freshly-rained tequila from the cloud. An installation commissioned by the Mexican tourism board to encourage the people of germany to visit their country. 

Lapiz formed the ’tequila cloud’ by using ultrasonic humidifiers to vibrate tequila at a frequency that turned it into visible mist, just like a cloud. The boozy mist then condensed into liquid form as it came into contact with a plastic container, making a real cloud rain tequila every time it rained in Berlin.

Collaborative Comix Corner My third and final project at @schmiede this year - a place where you could partake in a collaborative comic narrative, while only being able to see a few of the panels that came before. I’m amazed at how well-recieved this project was and how many people participated :)

Colorful interactive installation by Daniel Escobar

What is music like when you can't hear it? Colombian interactive artist, Daniel Escobar Vásquez, created an interactive installation called Marimba Inclusiva that helps deaf people feel the music. In this case, a marimba de chonta, a traditional instrument from Colombia’s Pacific coast, acts as an interface, which allows deaf people to experience sound through vibrations. Thanks to a combination of sensors and colorful educative video mapping projections, any deaf person can feel the rhythm and learn to play the instrument.
