I’ll post here (and will keep updating) links of tutorials that I found helpful (or that can be helpful for others because we all have different methods 😉) ↓

• For shadows : 1 (explains where to put the shadows on a face)

• For skin : 1 (explains different methods on how to blend colors)

• For hair : 1 by @galaxysdragon , 2, 3

• For sketching (using reference pictures) : 1 (by @zoncat I love this tutorial! Thanks to it I do better drawings now, I don’t do as much mistakes with proportions as I used to) ; 2

• For clothing : 1 (how to paint folds)

• For the face : 1 (eyes, eyeshape etc..)

In case you missed it, here’s a #TutorialTuesday someone requested on Twitter to go with last week’s process video on how to create a perspective grid from a photo (from Tomomi Sato) which you can use for studies, drawings, paintings, etc. Hope this helps with drawing/painting in perspective!!

Client sketch vs. final illustration

When someone commissions me, I absolutely love getting a rough sketch/doodle of their concept—it makes the first steps of an illustration (composition/posing) so much easier.

I'll never ever judge a client for a messy sketch!! (And also, no pressure to send something like this if you'd like the artist to take the creative reins on your piece.)
