There might be blood on the side of his leg. Just might.
And it might or might not be causing his jeans to stick rather unpleasantly to his throbbing calf.
Nothing to write home about, yet definitely something to make him stay away from the main streets.

"There’s plenty to do, but it all depends on naturally what your interests are."
"I wouldn't mind seeing more people, to begin with. Perhaps in a bar? Clubs give me sensory overload."
A bit of a fib, there, but not one that anyone could call him out on.

"I don't suppose you could tell me what to do around here."
Getting to know where people meet always helps. In anything. He'll scout the newspapers in the morning.
"First of all, call me kid again and you’re getting punched, I’m 18. Second, no. I work here sometimes." She rolled her eyes, "I’m not as dumb as I look."
"Sorry, ki-- Force of habit." Well, then. Not that he's scared of being punched - she probably weighs less than one of his arms - but the prospect of hostility is never nice when he hasn't even slept yet. "I don't recall making a comment like that."
"Follow me, it’s right across from my Uncle’s motel." She nodded, "I’m headed there myself."
To follow a teenaged stranger or to not. Ah, the possibilities are endless. But, his car is safely stored away, and he's got his backpack on his shoulder. "Sure. Thanks, kid," he agrees, looking her over until she decides to start walking. "I take it you're a local?"
"Down at Lola’s." Natalie nodded.
"Any more directions wouldn't be unappreciated." He's yet to map the town out in his head, never mind look for a half-way decent motel room. Both his eyebrows arch up in silent question.
New day, new town. Is this what a fairly unhealthy routine begins feeling like, after a while?
"I do wonder where they keep the greasiest fries around here. For research purposes."
He's talking to himself, but out-loud. One loses sight of what's socially acceptable in public after a while, with no one to fill in those silences besides the radio and, well, his own self.
