"Oh, stop your crying. You sound like one of Haymitch’s geese. Everybody loves being pampered! You just don’t know, yet. Now, come in this shop with me."
"Fine. Lead the way," he says somewhat begrudgingly with a hint of amusement. He follows her to one of the stores in the district he had never been to. He can afford it now, but expensive wasn't really his taste.
teawithtrinket:
"Oh, really, now! It’s not that bad. You’ll enjoy being pampered a little bit, won’t you? Everybody wants to be pampered sometimes! And you’ll look so nice in a finely tailored suit!"
"I'm pretty sure I don't like being pampered."
teawithtrinket:
"Oh, well, I’m not sure yellow would be your color for a suit, dear, but we’ll see what we can do. I’m picturing a nice, dark blue, hm?"
"Yea, sure." Follows her to wherever she's taking him. "This must be how Katniss felt."
Victor Gale || Closed Galethesoldier
reluctant-mockingjay:
He had made it. Gale had won the hunger games. Words could not express the joy in his family’s eyes nor the relief and happiness that lay in Katniss Everdeen’s gaze. The train would be in soon, and she’d get to see him for the first time in a while. There she stood with his family d her own waiting for him. Katniss had become more of a regular in the Hawthorne family home. While he was away Katniss had done her best to make sure they were fed, like she had promised to him before he left.
The train arrived and when the doors opened Katniss smiled brightly. Her arm rose and she gave him a wave, Posy secure in her other arm, also waving. “Welcome home Gale!”
The train ride home seemed to never end. Gale sat in silence, staring out a window, ignoring an attempts at conversation by Effie. Thankfully Haymitch understood how he felt and steered clear. He just wanted to be home and away from this nightmare, but he knew it wasn't that easy. At District Twelve's platform, he would be met with more cameras and people to please. Thankfully the citizens of the Capitol seemed to like his brooding self. Talk, dark and mysterious as Flickerman had coined him. He didn't have to talk much which was fine by him.
As predicted, the train station was packed. Effie ushered him cheerfully out to the crowd to introduce their Victor. The crowd cheered, but Gale's eyes scanned over them. FInally he saw the familiar faces of his family and then his attention settled on Katniss. It felt like a weight was lifted from his shoulders when he saw her. Home. He was finally home.
When the chaos died down, he walked to his family and hugged his mother and then his sister. His brothers smiled at him and he started to feel the tension melt away. Looking for his best friend, his eyes scanned her, hoping she was still well. "Hey Catnip," he said.
teawithtrinket:
"Oh, don’t be silly! We’re going to have a fabulous time! Now, what’s your favorite color?"
"Well, I've got nothing else to do today. Do your worst, Trinket. And uh, yellow."
teawithtrinket:
"Gale. Darling. You sit at a desk, that means its important. You need to be seen as someone in charge, and that means dressing the part! You dress for the job you want, dear!
"I feel like I should be afraid..."
princessmadge:
Blue eyes rolled and Madge gave Gale a knowing look. “I’m sure you know a hoard of girls who find it interesting, whether they’ve told you or not.” A soft laugh escaped her lips as she tried to remain collected. Luckily for Madge, at heart she was a conversationalist. She liked talking, despite the fact that conversations could be awkward at times. At the wind, she shivered a little. She’d never gotten used to the cold. Looking away at his question she smiled a little, shaking her head. “I’m wanting to play piano in hipster café’s for little to no money, but I’m pretty sure I’ll end up in poli-sci carrying out the Undersee tradition.” When she was younger she didn’t like to think about the future but now Madge was adjusted to the fact that if she didn’t go into politics, the legacy would die with her.
An amused sound escaped Gale as well. "Oh no. Tons of girls interested in watching me work on cars, but none actually think what I do is interesting," he answered with a sly grin.
When he noticed her shiver, he hesitated a moment before shrugging out of his zip-up hoodie and handing it to her. "Here. I'm not cold." Her talk of her future brought a frown to his face. He could easily see her playing the piano in bars. She'd probably make good money from tips, too. Yet seeing her clearly unhappy about the reality of it upset him. "Why can't you just do what you want to?"
A Bet's a Bet || Gale & Madge {Post MJ}
princessmadge:
Picking the sheet up in her hands she crossed the space over to the potatoes, setting the roots down onto the metal before sliding them into the oven. —Figuring potatoes would be fairly basic to cook she didn’t print out instructions. Praying that it wouldn’t be too long now till dinner was cooked, she walked back to the counter, leaning against it once again.
She couldn’t help but laugh at his question. There was well over a thousand recognized instruments in the world, and while she had a good grasp on many, she still had loads to learn. “Oh no, not any instrument, I’m not nearly that talented.” She replied with a smile. “I could play for you sometime?”
Madge's answer made Gale look down with an embarrassed smile on his face. Of course she couldn't play any and every instrument in the world. That would be silly. He didn't know what he was saying. At her own question, he looked back up. "You would? I'd like that." He shook his head a little, more embarrassment coming to the surface as he recalled his childhood. "You know, I used to think music was dumb. I mean, I liked the excuse to dance with girls at celebrations, but I always thought learning an instrument was a waste of time."
teawithtrinket:
"Gale Hawthorne! You are a young, respectable man. You need a nice suit! Even Haymitch has two of his own! Good gracious. It’s lucky you bumped into me today, I happen to be free for the next few hours and we are going to fix this little dilemma, and then I will give you a flower for your pocket. Come, come!
"Whoa whoa. My job doesn't require a suit. I sit at a desk and inspect the other districts. That's it. Nothing fancy that can choke me. I'm good."
teawithtrinket:
"Well, of course they can! But, that really isn’t the point, is it? I grow more than just wildflowers. I have roses, and herbs, and bushes, and all sorts of things. I provide bouquets for special occasions and, well, you’ll just have to stop by sometime. I’ll give you a flower for your suit pocket for free, hm?"
"I don't have a suit." He couldn't help the hint of an amused smile crack through his expression. "It's good to see you happy and moving on, though."
"Where the hell have you been?"
"Uuummmm.....around?"
teawithtrinket:
"—Liar. I can’t imagine men finding flowers exciting, but thank you for trying, Gale, dear. It’s nice to be able to take care of myself again, and as long as nobody recognizes me for who I was before, well, business is just busy enough. What about you? What have you been up to?"
"But...can't people just go pick flowers themselves? I mean, that's good for you. I, uh, I can't complain. Surviving, you know."
strawberryxmadge:
”I—I was just joking Gale. What’s your issue with me, seriously?”
"Nothing. Forget it."
teawithtrinket:
"Well, believe it or not, I’ve started my own little flower shop. I discovered I’m rather gifted with gardening. It’s just a little thing, and it’s not very popular, but I enjoy it."
"A flower shop?
..... that sounds really exciting."
teawithtrinket:
"Hello, dear! I’ve been rather busy, actually. And no, I haven’t been hiding. How are you?"
"I'm as good as can be. Busy with what?"
