help me get back into this muse
so uh
iâve been back on @dude-wheres-my-boat for a few months now
Guess I should start back here as well
â§
> 8. In the shower
The Raconteur hummed, the rising wall of steam fogging the glass and steel walls of the TARDIS shower as he worked the shampoo in his hair to a thick lather.
âDodoodoo, doodoodoo, oo-ee-oooâŠâIt was fairly obvious that he was entirely focused on the task at hand, and he didnât notice the sound of the bathroom door opening. He stepped out of the shower still humming, reaching for a towel from the wall before his eyes clocked the familiar face standing in the doorway.
He froze for the briefest moment before dragging the towel down and wrapping his hair up in it.
âGood morning Cam. This isâŠthis is the bathroom. The kitchen is down the hall.â The Raconteur looked down for a moment and shook his head briefly, then grinned. Since they were already here, he may as well have some fun.âUnless there was something youâŠwanted to tell me? Something so urgent you had to interrupt the fantastically luxurious shower I was taking?â
He took a small step towards the young man, still grinning. âCâmon lad, speak up.â
Cam frowned, did everything he could to not look at the other. âI didnae in'erupt anythinâ,â he stammered. âYe were done, ye didnârealise I was here until th'shower was o'er.â That, of course, was not the important thing here and definitely not an answer to the question the Raconteur had asked him.
The Raconteur stared, slowly grabbing another towel from the wall - there appeared to be hundreds of them of varying degrees of fluffiness, some with patterns, some with obscene imagery on them - and wrapped it around his waist. âSo...how long were you here, then? Surely you wanted to tell me something, if you were waiting for me to get out. Iâm assuming you didnât just want to sneak a peek at me.â He looked down for a moment at his own still-wet, lithely muscled body. âNot that Iâd blame you, Iâm fucking gorgeous. I mean, goddamn. But anyway...what can I do you for, Campbell? Thereâs still plenty of hot water if you were coming for a shower. A fission heater will do that, but unfortunately I havenât picked up a loofah on a stick recently, so if you need someone to scrub your back...â
He should probably feel bad about teasing the poor boy, but the way he stammered was too cute. âYouâre gawking, lad.â

OKAY BUT DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN the companion who stayed with the Doctor the longest was a piperâs son named Jamie McCrimmon from 18th century Scotland who couldnât read or write and had no idea what a radio or a toaster or an elevator was, much less a time-and-space-ship? And who probably mentally catalogued Daleks and Cybermen as âmetal beastiesâ and âthe other metal beastiesâ, and made fun of the Doctor for never, ever landing the TARDIS even remotely where he intended, but still called him a clever wee chappie and would follow this rumpled-looking little Englishman to the ends of the earth without hesitation?
And then remember how the Time Lords ripped the Doctorâs companions away from him and wiped their memories, and Jamie woke up in the middle of the Battle of Culloden with a redcoat shooting at him, and the Doctor was exiled on Earth with a broken TARDIS so he could never find them again?
And then remember that one time on the Scottish moors when Ten used the name Doctor McCrimmon.
I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT JAMES ROBERT MCCRIMMON OKAY.
She was clearly entertained by his piloting method, and she watched him with amusement. Everything about the young Time Lordâfrom his personality to his TARDIS interiorâseemed to be eclectic. She wondered how much he resembled his father in personality, but since most of her knowledge of him was limited to brief contact on Gallifrey and buckets of rumour out in the universe, she couldnât draw many conclusions.
She hesitated for a moment, but she joined him by sitting in a nearby chair. âDo you often get into trouble with strange women and bars? I would protest the idea of me being strange, but that would be disingenuous. I have been travelling alone for quite some time, so my likely strangeness is probably the logical outcome of that.â If this was going to take very long, she was probably going to wish sheâd accepted the offer of a drink. âWhat do you want to know? I have a good chunk of time under my belt and I never quite know where to start.â
âUh...define âoften.â Also âtrouble,â in this situation,â he muttered, avoiding her gaze.Â
âHow about this; youâve got a particular...swagger. Sorry, no, thatâs the wrong word, I just mean you carry yourself very confidently. What do you do, these days? Youâre one of a small handful of survivors from an ancient, presumed-extinct race. Either one of us could practically take over this planet, along with many others, just by playing with tiny little events throughout time.â The Raconteur leaned forward, interlacing his fingers and resting his chin in the cradle they formed. âI know why I havenât done it - long story short, nothing sounds more boring than the responsibilities of rulership - but what have you spent your time doing? You have to make a living somehow, even with timetravel.âÂ
He leaned back again and frowned slightly. âSorry if thatâs too invasive a question so early on. Iâm just curious, is all.â
Now THIS is art.
Have I reblogged this before. I donât care, How absolutely amazing this is.Â
IT JUST GOT BETTER
Iâm amazed of how insignificant we actually are
not me im important
Do you know why I love lots of threads with the same person? Because if on a particular day I have no idea how to answer a thread, having multiple threads allow me to keep playing with a wonderful person no matter how my brain is an idiot. So yes, no matter how much threads we have together, just keep on sending stuff if you want. Youâre never bothering me.
