A chaise, angled in front of a California garden, has the advantage of natural light for the reader. Rather than drape the windows, the owner chose vertical metal blinds that resemble tight pleats when open. Fastened to a ceiling track, the custom, neutral-toned blinds extend to the floor in the manner of tailored draperies. When drawn, the blinds become a wall of soft color and texture.
