Galyn Mor’Du || Thirty Six || CEO/Mobster || Bedeviled
“ Mor’du has never been seen since. And he’s roaming the wild, awaiting his chance for revenge.”
Legend was told of four brothers who lived in an ancient kingdom. They were sons to the king and, by tradition, the eldest was to take the throne once their father passed. Their father fell ill though, much earlier than any man should. So, the king decided to equally divide the kingdom in four among his sons. The eldest son, who was a ruthless and cruel man felt he was owed the throne and was not going to share the land with his brothers. His younger brothers tried to reason with him, but in the end the four kingdoms went to war. Eventually they all turned on each other and the eldest brother came out on top. He slaughtered all three of them himself and took the throne. Karma didn’t treat the new king well though, and he too eventually met his downfall. This was the story Galyn Mor’du’s father would tell him and his three younger brothers to remind them to always be just and true to each other. That betraying your own brother will only bring your own downfall. This story was meant to resonate in the boys because one day they were to take over their father’s business and all have equal parts in running it.
Galyn and his brothers grew up without a mother, but their father was a kindhearted man that did everything in his power to make his sons happy. Money was never an issue because he owned a business empire. Their father owned a multi-billion dollar company that creates new technology for the science and medical fields. The head quarters is in America, but his father wanted Galyn and his brothers to grow up in Scotland where their roots were from. His dad was often on business trips to America but managed to do much of his work from their Scotland location. As the boys grew up and their dad grew older it was time to talk about how the company was to be divided. Galyn was a greedy and cruel child growing up. He took things that weren’t his and intentionally hurt other kids and animals. This reflected as an adult because he told his father that he alone should have the company, and that his brothers didn’t have the experience and schooling he did. Galyn had studied business and entrepreneurship at Wharton university. His father only wanted the best education for his sons. Galyn thought though that because he was the only one to have finished college and begin working with his father that he had the right to it all. A final decision was never made though because his father fell ill and passed quickly.
The four brothers, now alone, did not know how to settle this score. Galyn knew what he had to do though. He thought back to the story his father would tell him as a child and knew he had to kill his brothers. Doing so wouldn’t be easy though. So, he hired someone to make it look like an accident. Soon enough, they were dead. His family’s enterprise was his. Galyn made many drastic changes to the company. He began buying land to expand the company so more research could be done. One particular project was going to be set out more towards the rural areas on Scotland where a research lab was being built. There was one young woman who tried to stop him though. Willow Wisp. She was a high school student and didn’t want this land to become a corporate hellhole that would kill the environment. When Galyn heard she was causing problems with construction he made a visit to her family home. He acted kind and simply told her sometimes life isn’t fair. When her parents weren’t present though, his true colors came out. He threatened that if she meddled again there would be a price to pay. Willow didn’t care though, she went back day after day to protest. When she came home one day though, her parents were dead. She knew it was the work of Galyn. He’d hired someone to kill them and his message was received. She never showed her face there again.
Galyn began buying properties up and building businesses unrelated to his father’s. More and more money began rolling in and soon there were plans to cut down a large portion of a forest near the research lab he built. He wanted to expand the town and fill it with shopping centers, small businesses, and restaurants. There was an older woman that lived in the woods though. Her name was Moira Carver and she was an ally of Willow. When they came upon her house Galyn offered her a large sum of money to move. Moira refused. She was going to stay right where she wanted. She offered Galyn an offer though. She told him she could see into his heart and could give him what he most desired. Up until then he thought he had everything he wanted. Power and money. He was sure that was all he needed. He practically spat in Moira’s face and found a loophole and was able to start construction. Moira warned him though, that if he did not heed her warning his downfall would come. Galyn ignored the old woman and soon the project was started. Not before a young, read-headed heroine was able to speak with Moira first. That girl was Merida DunBroch, a local farm girl with a big dream.
Merida was good friends with the Willow girl Galyn had taken care of. He didn’t know of her existence yet, but it wouldn’t be too long before he did. After the project was complete, Galyn moved to New York where the head quarters was located and began doing his dirty work there. He soon met Aaric Chernabog and offered him a lot of money for protection and to help him get around some of the ‘technicalities’ of the law. He began buying up properties in New York, tearing them down, and building something brand new. Before long Galyn became one of Aaric’s top men and was very trusted. Aaric knew Galyn had what it took to achieve his goals as well as help Aaric with his. Galyn had the money and protection from Aaric and in return gave him his loyalty to his mob.
There was one pesky little problem though. Merida finally had enough information on Galyn and news began to spread online that he was forcing families from their homes with lies of false compensation. She was spreading new quickly about how he was going to turn the rural areas on New York into a cesspool. She was giving his company very bad publicity. It would be easy to kill her but it would also be far too obvious. So, instead one day they will meet in person and he will work it out the old fashioned way. For now though he pays people to get those articles taken down and keeps a close watchful eye on her. Everything came together though when he learned she was friends with Willow, so now not only is Merida a target but the person she cares for most as well.
