Warnings: Anger, burns, talks of destruction
A/n: The conclusion is here!!! In the movies it seems like thorn and company escaped after a few hours from their cells, but in the book it was around two weeks, I'm kinda going between the two and making it about a week.
-----
The passage of time can change many things, whether it wants to be changed or not. As years pass on the young dwarven prince becomes a leader to his people and the elven warrior becomes a member of the kings guard. A past friendship that one no longer hears the tale of comes back into the light as time reunites those torn apart. It is now that truth is revealed of what happened when Smaug attackedâŚ
The present - One Hundred and Seventy One Years LaterÂ
Mirkwood 2941, Third Age -
Thorin knew the quest to take back the Lonely mountain would eventually bring them to Mirkwood, but his plan was to avoid the Woodland Realm. He didnât want to deal with the elven king or see you.
Most of the company knew Thorin wanted to get through Mirkwood without dealing with the elves, as unknowing to Thorin, most had heard tales of you from a few dwarves that lived in Erebor before the attack; though they had been warned to never speak of you. Balin, however was the only one who knew and remembered you. He was seven at the time of the attack, but he remembered the elf who lived among dwarves, who played with him when waiting for Thorin, and told him stories of the Woodland Realm. Balin honestly believed you never meant to betray Thorin, but that was something he could never say.
The company had made it to the edge of Mirkwood and felt an overwhelming pressure as they tried to stay on the path.Â
âMake sure we stay on the path!â Thorin commanded to the company. âI want to get through here quickly without dealing with any elves.â He added sounding angry.
âI get that Gandalf told us to stay on the path, but would the elves here be a problem?â Bilbo asked confused.
Thorin didnât answer, only continued forward on the path. The others had looked at him as if he had said something wrong.
âI get that all of you donât like elves, but that just seemed like I said something wrong.â Bilbo stated now even more confused.
Balin stopped in his tracks as he waited for Bilbo to reach him, Thorin was way up ahead now and Balin decided to use this chance to explain to Bilbo on that which they didnât talk about.
âYou see, everyone here knows as they were told some time ago, but before we lost the mountain to Smaug; there was an elf (lass/lad) named (Y/n). (Y/n) and Thorin were friends, honestly it was one of the strongest friendships Iâd ever remember seeing,â Balin explained in a whisper to Bilbo, âspecially for an elf and dwarf at that.â Balin added.Â
âWhat happened?â Bilbo asked curiously.
âWhen Smaug attacked the mountain, King Thranduil had marched his warriors to the mountain, but when Thorin called for help all he did was turn away. No elf came to our aid, not even (Y/n); who had been gone back to the Woodland Realm came to help. Thorin felt betrayed and so just like that years of friendship gone. We learned to never mention the name, as some wounds never heal.â Balin finished telling Bilbo.Â
âSo he doesnât want to see this (Y/n), because heâs still angry with them?â Bilbo questioned rhetorically.
âAye lad. So best not say anything around him.â Balin warned Bilbo.
Bilbo understood Balinâs warning and kept quiet on the matter of the Woodland elves, though as he continued on following the dwarves he think some about the fact that Thorin had once trusted an elf.
As the company continued on through the forrest they unnoticeably ventured off the path, becoming confused and disoriented. In an attempt to figure out where they were, Bilbo climbed a nearby tree. It was then that the company was attacked by spiders and taken.Â
Bilbo had went after them to save them and it lead to the company trying to fight off the spiders. In the middle of it all is when the elves came. None of the company was happy by now, first captured by spiders and now being searched and captured by elves.
Thorin didnât recognize any of the elves that surrounded the company, not that he had known many of them anyway; but he knew you were not among them which meant you were not part of this group. Thorin really wanted to avoided setting foot into the Woodland Realm, yet here he and the company, except Bilbo who had disappeared again, were being lead straight in.
The only thing any of the dwarves knew about the great hall and fortress of Thranduilâs kingdom was what stories and records showed from the dwarves who had helped carve it. It still was not enough to make the company feel any comfort at being brought in to the Kingdom.Â
As they were walking Thorin was pulled away from the rest. Thorin knew he was going to see Thranduil, but he already had planned to refuse any deal. The others were led down to the cells where they were locked up and made to wait for Thorin.
As Thorin was brought in front of Thranduil, he also noticed a guard that stood on the floor in front of him and in front of Thranduilâs throne. This guard however wasnât in full armor like the other four, but instead lighter allowing the regular clothes to be seen. The elf still had a helmet though it was slightly different from the other four, it still had a face covering, but the top was designed like a regular Infantry helmet (see photo at the bottom).
Thorin wondered why if this elven guard got to have a different uniform, that was until he noticed the elfâs hands. Both had burn marks that were different on either hand. Thorin didnât know why he was wondering about the difference in the guards, because he didnât really care, all he wanted was to be done with elves and find a way to escape without having to see you.
However what Thorin hadnât realized was that you were in front of him. You were the guard who was dressed differently. You knew you couldnât move unless you were told too, but you had felt happy to see your best friend alive after all these years. You hadnât known what became of him when Smaug took the mountain, but since then you had been stuck in the Woodland Realm. Thranduil had made you continue your training and when you became of adult age he had decided to make you one of his personal guards. The others saw it as you were being acknowledged for your skill and experience, but to you it felt it was his way of trapping you to the kingdom. It had been a struggle for you to readjust to living amongst the elves again, as your time and freedom with the dwarves had changed you, and Thranduil knew if you had stayed as a warrior with access to going off into the forrest there was no telling what you would do. So to keep you grounded you were a kings guard, to a king who never left his own kingdom.
Thorin and Thranduilâs discussion ended in a deal not being made and Thorin was led down to the cells as well. With hearing their discussion, you were reminded that you learned months after the fact that the dwarves had stopped by for help after losing the mountain and that Thranduil had refused to do anything. It had upset you beyond belief, as you had thought so highly of the dwarves, so when you had learned of what had happened you went to Thranduil in rage. It did no good of course and only caused you more problems among the other elves. Now however you wanted to leave your post, you want to talk to him, tell him that over all these years you had hoped to see him again but you couldnât move; it had been drilled into you on how to be a kingâs guard.Â
â(Y/n).â You heard Thranduil call your name pulling you from your thoughts.
âYes, aran ninš?â You replied as you moved to face him.
âHow many of those dwarves that were brought in did you recognize?â Thranduil asked you. He honestly didnât care for the dwarves, but he was curious to know how many had seen the mountain.
âOf the ones I saw, I only recognized two. If you donât count Thorin, then only one.â You answered him.Â
âOnly one?â Thranduil questioned more to himself.
âYes, though that one was little last I saw him. No more than seven.â You explained to Thranduil.
He only nodded and you returned back to your position, knowing he was done speaking. You didnât know why he was curious about how many you recognized, but to you it didnât matter; the only one you wanted to talk with was Thorin.
A few days had past since the dwarves had been brought in and you had yet to get a chance to make your way to the cells, mostly because you had guard duty and when you were finally off duty it seemed that everyone was walking around. You knew however that the festival was coming up and since everyone would be enjoying that and since you wouldnât be on duty you could possibly sneak down to the cells.
Thorin hated that had been locked up and waiting on Bilbo for days, but thatâs what they had to do. He had felt a little relived that he hadnât seen you yet, however and thought that perhaps he would be able to escape before he was able to.
The night of the festival came and to your luck Thranduil had managed to make sure there were watchful eyes on you. Thranduil had figured you might would try to sneak off to the dwarves and had taken precautions in making sure you didnât. Being older now meant you couldnât sneak off like you use to, but you knew now how to strategize and keep the ones watching you focused on other things. You played things to the advantage of knowing others well and knowing that a little wine and food can help go a long way.
Once you did manage to distract everyone watching you, you snuck away to the cells. Some of the dwarves were sleeping and others were just sitting like they were waiting for something to happen. Of course as you walked looking in each cell as you went by, the ones awake were looking at you, though you knew why.
You finally found the cell Thorin was in and stopped, he looked up at you, his eyes went wide at the sight of you. You saw the scared look on his face before a look of anger replaced it and he looked away. He had realized you were the kings guard who was in different armor.
âThorin, itâs been some time; my friend.â You spoke as you sat down on the steps. He didnât answer back or even turn back to look at you. âWill you not speak with me?â You questioned.
By now the dwarves who were awake were standing at their cell door trying to listen, realizing you were (Y/n), you were the elf they knew but couldnât speak of, you were the part of the past that was suppose to be forgotten; and yet here you were trying to talk to Thorin as if you were still friends.
âI donât trouble myself with the likes of elves, an of them for a fact.â Thorin growled.
You knew from his interaction with Thranduil that he didnât seem to trust him or others, but you had thought perhaps you were different. His words however had made it clear he no longer saw you as his friend, but as just another elf; still you were going to push him.
âA hundred and seventy-one years and some days since the last I saw you, but you still look rather the same. Though I see you ended up with that temper you said youâd never get.â You stated with a small chuckle. âMe on the other hand⌠Iâm sure I donât look the same, not with all the burns.â You added looking at the burn on your left hand that went up onto your arm. âI had hoped to be back before anything happened, I had been preparing thing to help all of you face a dragon; but -â
âBut you never came back.â Thorin interrupted as he looked to you. âYou never left your kings command to help us! You retreated back without coming to our aid! You betrayed me and my trust!â Thorin shouted angrily.
âWhat!?â You questioned confused.Â
âYou were with that king of yours came to the mountain and just watched as we fled and when I called for helpful of you just turned and left!â Thorin explained as if he was reminding you of what you had done.
âI wasnât with King Thranduil, I was in Dale when Smaug attacked! I had just left the stables when everything happened!â You told him. âAs Smaug attacked I ended up trying to help some of the towns people escape and shielded some from the rumble. I got these burns on my face and arm from shielding some kids, I burnt my other hand trying to remove burning debris to clear a pathâŚâ You paused as you looked over at him, âbut of course you didnât know I was in Dale, I never got a chance to find you. I passed out from everything and when I came to, it was a day and a half later. I tried to make my way to the mountain, but some had told me that all the dwarves had left; of course I still went to the gate just to be sure myself but you all were gone.â You explained to him. âAfter knowing all of you were gone, I came back here. I wasnât going to stay forever. I had planed to leave once I was recognized as an adult, so I could find all of you, but King Thranduil made sure to put me in a position that made sure I couldnât leave. And as for when he turned all of you away after you left the mountain, I learned about that a month or so after it had already happened.â You finished, telling him everything.
Everything seemed to grow quit around you. All these years and your best friend had believed you hadnât tried to return or help save them, that you had betrayed him. You felt horrible for not trying to leave the Woodland Realm and for coming back instead of trying to find them.Â
Thorin had no words, he was feeling angry now at himself. He had made himself believe you that you had forsaken him, that you wouldâve stand alongside the others when he shouldâve known that you were not like them. You had once told him that on one of your returns home that some had tried to insult you by saying you were âno elf among elves,â meaning that they didnât see you as an elf, but you thought nothing more than meaning that you didnât act in the same way as them; which you didnât. Thorin had thought it was strange to see an elf who sometimes acted more like a dwarf, but he had seen you behaved like the elf you were plenty of times as well. So now hearing you tell him that you were in Dale when Smaug attacked, you had even suffered burns from the attack, and that you still went to the mountain after just to see for sure if they had really left; he felt angry at himself.Â
âIâm sorry Thorin, I left you without answers all these years, leaving you to feel that I betrayed you. I should have tried to reach out, somehow to you about both the dragon sickness and about where I was that day.â You apologized.Â
â(Y/n), you shouldnât have to apologize. In my fear and anger, I made myself believe you had betrayed me; though I should have know better. Iâm sorry (Y/n).â Thorin replied apologizing to you.
The others listened to everything the two of you had said, of course they didnât dare interrupt as they knew Thorin would get on them later if they had. They felt like the air had lifted some however and could relax.
âIâll forgive you, since I never knew you hated me all these years.â You said forgiving Thorin, âBut for thinking I would betray you to the likes of these youâll have to wait to escape, at least until I can think of a plan.â You added with a smile on your face.
âWhat if a plan to escape happens before you make yours?â Thorin questioned.
âYou either already have something in mind or is there someone else in your company youâre waiting for?â You asked feeling it was the second option. He didnât respond and you could tell from the look on his face that you were right. âWell Iâll see if I can find this fourteenth member and see what I can do to help all of you escape.â You purposed as you stood up. âThen if you make it to the Lonely Mountain and take it back, Iâll be able to leave this place again; of course I would help rebuild Erebor back to what it once was.â You stated happily.
âYou wonât escape with us?â Thorin asked.
âItâs best I leave under better conditions, perhaps it would lead to a better outcome in the end; I hope.â You replied to him. âI must warn you however in case your extra member does manage to help you escape before I can find them, but Smaug has been in the mountain long enough with that gold and I must warn that it will be even more dangerous now. I never found a cure for dragon sickness, so I warn you to be careful my friend.â You warned him.
âIâll keep it in mind.â Thorin replied as you left.
Of course you never found the fourteenth member of the company, however they did manage to escape. Thanks to the events that followed after Smaug was defeated and Thranduil decided to go to the mountain to claim what was his, but also used supplies to help the people of Lake-town as a means to go. You went as well only to find Thorin succumbed to dragon sickness.Â
It was all quickly followed with a big battle against orcs from every direction. The battle was long and there was lots of damage, but in the end what was left of the enemy retreated. Thorin had recovered from the dragon sickness and with your help and the other dwarves of course, had begun to restore Erebor and give the gold that was promised to everyone. You had personally given King Thranduil the gems he had wanted all those year ago, given that he would allow you to stay in Erebor as you once had and you would return once every three months to the Woodland Realm instead unless needed; to which he reluctantly agreed.
That is how the friendship of the once dwarven prince and elven warrior came to an end. Though most know them now as the dwarven King under the mountain and his elven advisor.
I love listening to the Epic Saga (pls note I read part of the odyssey when I was in high school but that was years ago so I really donât remember much and this is just something that I overthink about so please feel free to ignore my thoughts) but every once in awhile I get bugged by the fact thatâŚ
There were 600 men and not one before leaving Troy looked at their food supplies and thought âyea⌠that wonât feed all 600 of us and last till Ithaca.â LIKE ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS TAKE FOOD THAT YOU COULD FROM TROY! Or better yet YOUR AT SEA LEARN TO FISH! Like you mean to tell me Eurylochus worries about food after they leave land? I would think as you reload ships you would check that, but obviously food isnât as important as making sure you have the harpoons (that you could use to fish đ)
Cause you tell me theyâre gonna take sheep and somehow cook them on the boats or wherever after they escape from the cyclops?? But catching fish as they sail isnât an idea??
Anyway I really love the Epic saga it really is honestly amazing! It gets stuck in my head a lot and I really look forward to the movie theyâre planning!
On a side note, I am working on the last part on my Thorin series so it will be up sometime Monday!
P.s I really sometimes think about throwing lines from Epic into my imagines đ

Hi again!! They are posted, I say that since I made two this time!! I hope you enjoy them! Also thank you!
Request: May I request a Mix & Match with Gimli with 17. (From the prompt list)
L. Gimli & prompt list 17. That was kind of hot
Warnings: battle, explosion, fighting, injury
A/n: You get two this time because I had two ideas!!!
âââ-
The battle was getting rough since the orcs and Uruk-hai started adding ladders. Everyone was trying their best to fight the ones who had already climbed up as well as the ones still climbing.Â
Aragorn was fighting and giving commands as best he could as well. You were in your own space practically fighting in all directions that the enemy was coming from. You were so busy trying to kill every last one around you, you never heard Aragorn call your name.
That when the part of the wall you were practically standing on exploded. You were thrown in the air back towards the elven warriors. Your instincts kicked in just in enough time to brace yourself for impact with the ground. It wasnât a soft landing as you could hear the snap in your left arm from the impact. Your head was spinning, the ringing in your ears was loud, and the pain in your arm told you that you couldnât manage to get up right now. You could only see the crowd of orcs and Uruk-hai running in through the broken wall.
Gimli had only been knocked down from the shock of the blast and was up on his feet in seconds. He looked down where the blast was and followed the debris inward until he saw you. You were sitting on the ground covered in dirt and blood while holding your sword out as if to hope to kill any orcs or Uruk-hai that came towards you.Â
â(Y/n)!!â He yelled as he ran to the broken part of the wall and jumped into the crowd of orcs and Uruk-hai.
The ringing in your ears had only slightly faded but you could still hear Gimli call to you. You watched as he jumped into the enemy pile coming through and watched as some fell onto the ground.Â
âGimli!â You yelled as you forced yourself to stand.Â
Aragorn rushed to your side to help you stay balanced as you were still dizzy from the blast. You watched as Gimli quickly stood up and started fighting, but soon was knocked back into the water. Aragorn used this time to have the elves launch a line of arrows at the orcs and Uruk-hai.
âIâm good Aragorn, I can stand on my own.â You said to him, knowing Aragorn wanted to charge.Â
Aragorn nodded releasing his hold on you and took his stance before yelling the command. You ran in with them, even with a broken arm you were going to fight and you were going to get Gimli.
You followed in behind Aragorn, pushing yourself past your limit. Legolas made his way down firing off arrows that helped clear a path to Gimli. Gimli had finally managed to sit up in the water just as you reached him. You stuck your sword into the water as you helped Gimli up.
âAh (lad/lass) Iâm glad youâre okay for the most part.â Gimli said looking at you.
You grabbed your sword just as an orc came up. âIâm glad you are too.â You replied as you killed the orc. âIt may have been my mind playing a trick on me from the blast, butif it isnât then that was kind of hot; the way you tried to come and save me.â You told him.
âAh that was no trick! Of course Iâd come and save you no matter what; (Y/n).â Gimli admitted causing a smile to appear on your face. âThough I feel you ended up saving me just now instead.â Gimli added.
âI only helped you out, but of course I would save you if you did. Iâd save you no matter what, Gimli.â You replied quoting his own words back to him.
âEven though your arm is broken and you are past your limit? You shouldnât put yourself in that much danger (Y/n).â Gimli told you and it made you realize why he had shifted his position after you helped him up.
âYou say that as if you wouldnât do the same for me, Gimli. I can manage, Iâm not going to back down unless we are commanded to.â You stated as you still pushed to fight.
It was just then as if King Theoden had heard your conversation, that he called for a retreat. Gimli normally wouldâve tried to ignore the command, but with you beside him knowing you could give out at any moment; he retreated with you helping you make it back to the keep.
You may not have really known then, but you were important to him and he had rather seen you to safe and alive than anything else.
------
Hope you liked this one as well! When trying to find ideas I ended up with two gifs and I wanted to do a Mix & Match for both!
Request: May I request a Mix & Match with Gimli with 17. (From the prompt list)
L. Gimli & prompt list 17. That was kind of hot
Warnings: battle, killing
A/n: it never matters which list you choose a prompt from as it keeps things interesting!! It really makes me have to get creative!
âââ-
The battle of Helmâs Deep had begun, the orcs and Uruk-hai had started to rise ladders to attack the wall. You were no good with a bow so you and Gimli had waited for this.Â
As the orcs and Uruk-hai ascended and started to arrive where you were you could start fighting. You had already faced many of them with the fellowship and knew how to handle them, though you had to admit the numbers were more than the last encounters with them.
You had just finished killing an orc when you heard Gimli tell Legolas that he had already killed two, but Legolas had stated he had already killed seventeen. Gimli was not going to be bested by an elf that you knew for sure, so you knew he was going to start fighting anyway he could to up his kill count.
You knew you had to focus on the enemies in front of you and watch for your fellow allies, but now you wanted to see how Gimli was going to catch up to Legolas on his kill count.
âArgh!â You heard turning your attention to the orc that was coming your way. You fought back as it launched its blade at you. You killed it only for another to quickly take its place. They were still adding ladders and quickly climbing up, there seemed to be more before you knew it.
As you killed another making this your fifteenth kill, as you kept count in your head, you heard Gimli begin to count out loud.
âSixteenâŚâ You heard him say as you to were he was.
He was standing on two of the merlonsš that were in between two ladders, swinging back and forth killing orcs and Uruk-hai as they came up on either side.
âSeventeen⌠eighteen⌠nineteen⌠twenty⌠twenty-one⌠â Gimli counted as he killed them.
Gimli never seemed afraid of battle or facing an enemy, he gave you courage plenty of times, but now you had to admit seeing him fighting like that; almost like he was taking charge was hot and made you like him even more.
You turned back to fighting the ones who had made it up from the other ladders, wanting to now improve your kill count as well. As you fought you could hear Aragorn yelling in the background but you didnât know what he was saying.
It was then that the wall exploded, sending the orc you were fighting over the edge and knocking you and Gimli to the ground. As you managed to stand you went over to Gimli.
âGimli, are you okay?â You asked him as you extended out your hand to him.
âNever better! Killing them left and right before they have a chance to strike really is exciting!â He exclaimed as he took your hand.
âI saw.â You told him as you helped him up. âI must admit seeing you fighting them like that⌠that was kind of hot.â You confessed.
âHahaha!â He laughed. âThat was nothing (Y/n), however the way you killed that orc earlier, spinning around behind it like you did, now that was impressive and hot.â Gimli admitted causing a blush on your face.Â
Not only had he seen you do that move you had been training to do, but he had found it impressive and hot. You almost couldnât believe what you heard. You shook it off however remembering there was still a battle going on around you as Gimli jumped after some Uruk-hai who were storming in, but you definitely want to come back to this conversation after the battle. You wanted to know just what he thought about you.
âââ
Hope you like it!!

Four Years Later
Erebor 2770, Third Age -Â
âAh! Thorin there you are. I was wondering where you went.â You said as you walked up to the allureš above the gate.
â(Y/n), heâs gotten worse in the months since the ordeal with King Thranduil.â Thorin stated bluntly as you reached his side. âI can tell by how he looks, though he doesnât act the same much anymore either.â He added.
âDragon sickness⌠Iâve learned some about it.â You replied looking out to the view in front of you. âThe more gold that piles up in that room the worse heâll get and that much gold in one place is a danger to not just him, but to all of you.â You told Thorin.
âIt will not affect me. I do not care for the gold.â Thorin answered.
âI donât mean it will affect you as well, just that it is a danger to everyone.â You corrected.Â
âHis obsession with the gold and gems has already affected our relationship with King Thranduil, has it not?â Thorin asked looking to you.
You took a deep breath before answering, âit is true that how he acted that day, with the gems of starlight, angered King Thranduil. It is why you donât have access to certain supplies no more. My king honestly feels he has been betrayed by King ThrĂłr.â You told Thorin.
âHe feels betrayed and yet he still allows you here.â Thorin replied.
âI practically begged for him to allow me to, but it had its cost.â You reminded him and he nodded remembering.
When King ThrĂłr refused to give King Thranduil the gems he was promised months ago, King Thranduil had made you return to the Woodland Realm. You had begged him to let you return and finally he agreed under one condition, instead of just reporting basic information from things you had seen like you had in the past you were to act more like an infiltrator; finding any secrets you could that could help King Thranduil and that he could use in order to get the gems of starlight. You agreed to his condition, but the moment you arrived back at Erebor you told Thorin everything. You didnât report back lies to your king, but it was never nothing of great value.
âBut what I meant was, all that gold in one place will attract a dragon one of these days if something isnât done.â You corrected your earlier statement. âThough dragon sickness could happen to Prince ThrĂĄin or yourself, or really anyone here including me.â You told him. âThorin, if I hadnât told you years ago it was something he was probably doing to keep busy and had learned of dragon sickness earlier, we could have stopped it.â You added feeling guilty.
âYou said you learned of dragon sickness? Where did you learn about it from?â Thorin ask you.
âIn one of the books my parents have that I read on my last visit to King Thranduil. When I read it said it wasnât all uncommon in most races to get it, that it affected men, elves, dwarves, and dragons.â You explained to Thorin. âIt is said that the person becomes obsessed with protecting the treasure not wanting to share any of it or lose even one piece of it; Iâm sure that sounds familiar.â You added. âIt also said the person or persons become paranoid, they turn against friends and family, believing that they want to steal it for themselves.â You finished telling him.
âIt told you all of that? Did it tell you anything on a cure for it?â Thorin questioned. âPerhaps if there are books with information on such a sickness it would have the information on how to cure someone of it.â Thorin considered.
âNo, there was no information of a cure that I read, but I donât doubt that someone in the Woodland Realm would know. I go back to report to King Thranduil in a few days, maybe I can ask around or perhaps find another book about it.â You answered him as you turned to leave. âWeâll find something to do about it my friend,â you added as placed your hand on his shoulder, âhopefully soon.â You said before leaving back into the mountain.
Over the next few days before your departure, you and Thorin continued on like normal; training and learning. As both the king and prince had saw progress in Thorinâs prince training over the years you had been with him. And so even as the dragon sick king loomed over the two of you, you both tried to act un-phased by his watchful eyes of suspicion. The two of you had even confided in Prince ThrĂĄin about the king and your plains to look for an answer upon your return home. You had also warned Prince ThrĂĄin about the possibility of a dragon attack in the future if they kept allowing the gold to pile up.
âOnce more, safe travels my friend. I hope to see you return soon.â Thorin repeated, as it was always what he told you when you got ready to leave Erebor.
âI hope to return with good news for you. Though I cannot promise I will return as quickly as normal.â You responded. âUntil then please be ready for anything.â You advised and he nodded in response.
You left Erebor to go to the stables in Dale, thatâs where your horse was kept. After retrieving your horse it would only be a few days ride to the Woodland Realm. You wonât sure if you could find an answer to cure dragon sickness, but you hoped you could learn something to help King ThrĂłr before Erebor was put into danger. You knew with the amount of gold now in that mountain that it could attract a dragon, but you hoped if you could help the king and distribute some of that gold as soon as possible, then Erebor could be safe from an attack.
Thorin now only watched as his grandfather succumb farther to the dragon sickness. The gold continued to grow steadily with gemstones mixed into the piles. Thorin remembered you mentioning that dragons were drawn to piles of gold, but he hoped that with it so far in the mountain it wouldnât. Still his father made sure they had plenty of armor and weapons ready, in a hope to stop an attack should the day come before your return.
It normally took you two days to get home, you usually would spend three days there and then it would take another two days for you to return to Erebor. However since you were trying to look for information you were gone longer. The longest you had been away from Erebor was when King ThrĂłr refused to give the gems to King Thranduil and you were away for a month before you were able to return. You didnât plan to be gone that long.
It had been three weeks since you had been gone back to the Woodland Realm. Thorin was beginning to wonder if Thranduil had decided to not let you return, but he trust that you were looking into a cure for his grandfather; so he would wait for your return.
However the day you had warned him of came at last. The rumble of the ground and the strong winds was the sign of a dragon approaching. Thorin watched as everything changed and warned the dwarves within the mountain. Thorin watched as Smaug, a dragon from the north, flew around. He attacked the city of Dale laying fire and destruction on town. The screams could be heard from the gates of Erebor, but he knew the dragonâs eyes were set on them and not Dale.
Thorin and some others gathered at the doorway as Smaug started to break his way in. But the blast of fire and the falling walls made them run and retreat, though in that same instant some were crushed and burned. Thorin, had fell in the retreat and braced himself as Smaug walked by and farther into the mountain. Thorin knew his grandfather had gone for the Arkenstone and then would likely go to the treasure hall where all the gold was. Thorin ran to find him, just as Smaug began to take over the halls of gold and pulled his grandfather away as Smaug flapped around in the gold, almost hitting him. The dwarves who could were fleeing out of the mountain, that now had been taken by Smaug.Â
Thorin dragged his grandfather out before he continued on his own away from the mountain. Thorin stopped however as he saw others still running out of the mountain; he continued to tell them to run. It was then he caught sight of King Thranduil and the elven warriors up on the hill between Dale and the mountain.
âHelp us!â Thorin called to him waving to get his attention. Thorin had hoped the king would put the matter from months ago aside to help them, but the realization hit Thorin that the elven king wouldnât help; whether from the ordeal of the gems or the safety of his own he didn't know. So Thorin watched as Thranduil turned and left, along with the warriors with him. It angered Thorin that he wouldnât help, but Thorin waited to see if one would defy the orders of the king.
You had been back in the Woodland Realm and you were still in training, but you were a warrior so if the elves needed help you could be called upon. He knew you had to be amongst them and he knew you would come to help no matter what; however you never came. Thorin felt betrayed by all elves and most importantly you. He had believed you would come running to help, that the friendship the two of you had was worth defying the elven kingâs orders, as you knew he wouldâve made sure you had a home with them had you not been welcomed back with the elves.Â
In all his anger Thorin remembered the words you spoke when you finally returned to Erebor after the elven king kept you away, âEven though the king feels betrayed, I donât. I donât think I could ever betray you my friend, thatâs why I fought and begged to comeback!â He could only scoff at it now. The one person who had said they would never betray him had now made it feel as all the trust he had in you was gone and that he never wanted to remember, you, the elf who had ended up betraying him anyway.Â
And so Thorin and his people marched on to the Misty Mountains, as his grandfather and father suggesting to try and reclaim the mines of Moria, he erased your existence; and everyone knew to never speak of you again. He believed you would never meet again anyway.

I hope y'all like it! Part 3 will be the last part of this series!

Heâll finish scolding you for being reckless or not following his direction, not realizing until after heâs done that your gaze is cast to the ground in shame and quiet tears are rolling down your face. He doesnât switch up immediately, but realizes how he let his anger boil over again, and he feels a punch of guilt deep in his gut. Heâll say something half-assed in an effort to ease your distressââitâs not a big deal, just donât⌠do it againââbefore stiffly bringing you into a hug.
Fili
He has a very independent and solitary personality because of his upbringing. Itâs not that he doesnât love spending time with you, he just also needs to be alone sometimes. When his voice has a bit too much edge to it as he tries to express his need for space without being rude, it backfires and you freeze, your heart sinking. Your most irrational fears flash before you as you begin to sniffle, walking away quickly. Fili follows you immediately, realizing he was in the wrong. âLass, Iâm sorry I didnât mean it to sound like that. Donât go, honey, I want you here.â He grabs your arm, pulling you into him as his hand finds the back of your head, rubbing softly as your tears soak his shirt. âDonât go.â
Kili
You mistake his social nature for betrayal, and when you see him talking excitedly with another woman, it goes to your head. With tears in your eyes you turn around before Kili even has the chance to introduce you, and you retreat somewhere you think you wonât be found. But Kili is on your heels the second he sees that glint in your eye, and he grabs your arms and turns you around to face him before you can get too far. âI would never,â he whispers as he pulls you close to him, and your tears are partly from relief that he isnât mad at you. âNever in a million years.â

There once was a time east of the Misty Mountains that peace between Men, Elves, and Dwarves had been seen. Each flourished in their own ways, but through trades it had made friends and allies among them. Each relied on one another, making them stronger together. Through this, a dwarven prince and a elven warrior had met and formed a close; well trusted friendship like no other. This is the start of our long forgotten storyâŚ
Erebor 2766, Third Age -Â
â(Y/n)! Good to see you made it back!â Greeted Thorin with a smile.
âOf course Prince Thorin son of ThrĂĄin, you know I enjoy my time here much more than anywhere else.â You greeted back. âThereâs always something exciting going on in Dale or here. Plus I do enjoy your company.â You added.
â(Y/n), you donât have to greet me with such titles, you are my most trusted friend. Come, let me show you our newest discovery.â Thorin reminded you as he began to guide you down one of the halls.
âYou know I must greet you that way in the presents of your father and the king or I may never see the light of day.â You replied trying to make a joke of the matter once more. âBut as to the discovery. What have you found this time? I was only gone a week and it seems you have found something truly amazing with the excitement you are showing; but surely it canât be better than the Taaffeite gems? Theyâre already rare and one of the most beautiful you have found here in the mountain.â You stated, almost curious as to what couldâve been better than Taaffeite gems.
Since becoming friends, Thorin told you everything that went on in the mountain. Sometimes you felt more like his advisor, but you knew that just showed how much he trusted you. You trusted him the same way as well; only you were not royalty like him. You were a warrior of the Woodland Realm, well only a warrior when needed as you were still training; so you spent most of your days in Dale and Erebor. Every so often you would return to the Woodland Realm as required to check in with King Thranduil to give any needed reports; since it was through his permission you could be away in Erebor. You also would visit with your parents and then would venture back to Erebor. You spent more time there than anything, so much so you had your own room; thanks to Thorin.
âWhat youâre about to see is even more rare.â He stated looking to you. âItâs the first time these gems have been seen here. Apparently it hasnât been seen in years, the last records of it were years before the king was born. What we can tell, from the records the size we found makes it even rarer.â He explained to you.
As both of you reached the discover room, that is what you called it anyway since all found gems of rare and unknown kind made their way there, you could feel the shift in the atmosphere; it was uplifting and exciting. The curiosity took hold as you walked to the middle of the room towards the circle of dwarves around a table, all mumbling with excitement. As you reach the table and looked over the dwarves you could see it. A shinny, glimmering bluish-green stone like nothing you had seen before, even the size of it proved it to be rare, as most gemstones found were decent size; but this was no bigger than a Raven Pennyš.Â
âIt is called the Iridescent gem².â Thorin told you as he came up beside you looking at it as well. âRight now it looks a blue color with a slight green to it, but under different lighting it changes to a violet almost red color.â Thorin explained.
âItâs a fitting name. There is definitely nothing like it, nothing Iâve ever seen before.â You replied still marveling at its shine. âIf it is this rare, what will you do with it?â You questioned looking to Thorin.
âThere will be a place beside the kingâs throne for it. To be displayed for all to see as the kingâs treasure.â Thorin replied back.
âI feel displaying a rarity like this beside the king could cause problems. Would it not be safer to place it somewhere else for the king to show it off? Like in his crown or in other parts of the kingâs wear. â You suggested to Thorin.
âHahaha, you think to much like a warrior my friend!â Thorin laughed as he pulled you away from the table. He knew you meant no ill-will about it and though you were his best friend the other dwarfs didnât quite see you as one; so even as an ally your words could leave the wrong impression. âIt is the kingâs treasure. Everyone respects him enough to know once it is placed beside the throne, well even as it is now, not to take it. It also is a sight for all of us to see. The records state that a smaller fraction of this same gem was once found in Moria and that it was held in such high treasure that only the king was allowed to hold it; but he still displayed it.â Thorin reassured you as the two of you left the room.
He was right of course, even if it was going to be displayed, it still held a great value to the others and so it was held in high regards to those living in the mountain. You saw the beauty in the gem, but you felt a sense of change with it that you could not place. You never would tell Thorin however, it would seem silly to believe the gem would bring a change big enough to worry about.
âSo then, now that you have shown me such a treasure; what am I to expect to do with the rest of my day? Surely there is nothing greater to see within these halls.â You joked. You had been gone only a week from Erebor, but you knew in that week Thorin wouldâve found things to do when you returned.Â
He always dropped the prince behavior with you around, thatâs partly why he liked having an elf for a friend, you knew he was a prince but you didnât tiptoe around him. The only reason, however that King ThrĂłr and Prince ThrĂĄin allowed you to be around Erebor so freely was that they saw you as a guard for Thorin more than his friend. The two of you trained together, you helped Thorin understand the importance of trade and relations maintained by leaders with the public, and even helped heal any who got injured; at least thatâs what the king saw most of the time. You were known to be fond of Dale just as much and would occasionally take Thorin out into the city, usually if the king heard you covered it up as a lesson to show Thorin the functions of give and take; as well as proof that it is important to know how your people are and see for improvement. Being older than Thorin meant you were held with the responsibility if something happened to him, as per the king and the princeâs orders; but he was your friend above all that they thought.
âI was hoping to go out to Dale. I heard from one of the dwarves who sells toys in the city, that they are having a festival today.â Thorin said with a smile.
âAh, you heard about their apple and berry festival! It is amazing!â You exclaimed.
âI shouldâve known you had been before.â Thorin replied.
âEvery year is different. New samples of jams and such, then there are new dishes created, fun crafts that some of the dwarves help put together, and they even have a showing of how they make some of their foods they sell.â You rambled on in excitement. âWe have been friends for what two years now? How have I not taken you yet?â You asked curiously.
âI believe last year at this time you had left to the Woodland Realm and the year before that I had only known you a few months. I wouldnât have gone if you asked.â He recalled thinking back.
âWell I wouldnât have asked you then anyway.â You replied jokingly. âBut since you have brought up the festival, I think I we should go, it will be good! Though if King ThrĂłr or Prince ThrĂĄin ask later-â
âDonât worry about them, this time Iâm the one who suggested to go.â Thorin interrupted you. âSo they should hold me responsible.â He stated.
âI hate to be the one to remind you my dear friend, but you are still nothing more than a childÂł to them. To the race of men youâre an adult, but thatâs not how you follow.â You reminded him, causing him to frown. âJust as I would be considered middle age for the race of men, but to my kind Iâm a young adultâ´ still having to learn things before I can be considered a full adult.â You added. âSo as the older of the two of us, King ThrĂłr and Prince ThrĂĄin see me responsible for you. Plus if I get in too big of trouble King Thranduil will make me stay in the Woodland Realm. Then neither of us will be happy.â You mentioned.
âI doubt weâll get into that much trouble, we never have. I donât think theyâll get mad if we go to a festival.â Thorin reassured.
âThatâs true⌠plus there is plenty of value in going to the festival! So letâs be off then!â You exclaimed as you started to walk off.
You and Thorin left the gates of Erebor and made your way to the city of Dale. The apple and berry festival had long started by the time the two of you arrived, but it was as crowded as ever. The two of you took your time going through the festival, allowing Thorin to learn and enjoying what the people of Dale did along with the help of the dwarves.Â
âI am rather enjoying all of this, it is definitely quite entertaining.â Thorin spoke as the two of you walked around trying samples. âAnd these samples, I want to take them all back!â He added with a smile on his face.Â
âThen we should buy some. Perhaps the king and prince would enjoy them as well.â You told him as you paid the woman at the current stall for a few jars of the verity of apple jams she had. You collected them into the basket you had purchased when you stopped at one of the earlier stalls.
â(Y/n), seeing all this makes me happy, but I must get something off my mind.â Thorin said as the two of you began walking once more.Â
âWhat is troubling you?â You asked.
âIt may be nothing but my overthinking⌠but I feel something is off about my grandfather.â Thorin answered. âWhen I see him most of the time, he is leaving the gold room.â He stated worryingly.
âWell as king, maybe heâs checking it? Like to make sure no one has gone in.â You guessed, thinking that seemed plausible.
âThat would be fine if he did it once or twice a day or every other day, but this is a few times throughout the day and itâs not like there are mountains of it in there.â Thorin replied.
âHmmm.â You thought trying to think about why the king would do that. âMaybe it just gives him something to do, like a hobby. Iâm sure as king he just wants something to enjoy.â You reassured him.
âI didnât think of that. Perhaps thatâs all it is and as I said âIâm overthinking things.ââ Thorin said nodding.Â
âItâs good that you worry for him though, shows you care.â You stated trying to make him feel better. âNow how about we head back, thereâs plenty of stuff in this basket and itâs heavy.â You added laughing a little.
âWe have been here for a while now, probably best to head back.â He agreed.
This was one of the many days you enjoyed and thought to lead to more joyous days. Your thought on the king seemed good at the time, but it would lead to cause trouble in a few years for Erebor and the city of Dale.

Hi y'all! So as the title says I'm gonna start working on a small series. I say small because it's just an imagine that probably will have two parts, at least that's how I'm thinking it will go, it could be 3 parts; but I doubt it will be longer.
Anyway I am starting on it today, but I don't know when the first part will be published, hopefully in a few days!
I will say it will be a Thorin imagine series. I know technically there already is one series for Thorin, but this one's idea comes from a Tiktok video for 'your relationship w Thorin based on your birth month' I saw and saved a few weeks ago and really thought it would be fun to write something for. Don't worry I plan to link the video so that y'all can see the og thing as well!
One last thing, request are still open! So if you want to request something please do!!
