@lesbian-aunt asked for slice-of-life prompts for ficlets, and I gave her "either one or both [Bilbo and Thorin] get caught out in heavy summer rain, (the kind that gets you so drenched in only a few minutes you can squeeze water out of every last layer), but it's so warm they don't mind, not in the way of autumn rain. Setting of your choosing".

She responded with a beautiful little ficlet that I most naturally had to illustrate - you can find it here!

Summary

As the company leaves the safety of Beorn's home, Bilbo lets slip (in polite conversation) that romantically, he favours males over females - after a stunned silence, the dwarves lay down their arms, and begin a massive and hectic brawl.

Bilbo is pulled gently away to watch but is nervous and confused, he finally finds out that he is essentially the prize of this 'honour fight'.

May the best dwarf win *cough Thorin*

Thorin and Bilbo cuddling for warmth, because I love that trope and the huge fur coat is too, too fun to draw—and because the "come here" scene in Ere Break of Day by @alexaprilgarden compelled me to try to capture the moment.
