Blizzard buys IPL according to IGN. But what are Blizzard’s plans for the future of IPL?

Today IGN confirmed that Blizzard bas bought the IGN Pro League (IPL). After the drama ofIPL 6 being cancelled, it is no surprise that IPL was having some issues. The article to confirm this sale comes straight from IGN itself. Staff, technology, and assets have now changed hands.

With the IPL and the all related assets now absorbed into Blizzard existing members of IPL’s staff will help form a new team of web-content providers. Located in San Francisco, this restructured team’s “primary focus will be on creating high-quality web and mobile content in support of Blizzard games.” Additionally, Blizzard has stated that it has “no plans to continue operation of the IPL business.”

IPL, as it was, is now officially shut down.

A Russian group has hacked the uPlay launcher, gaining access to the Ubisoft’s PC games for free.

According to Eurogamer, the group used the hack to trick uPlay into thinking that they already owned games on the service. This allowed them to download the game for free and with no DRM attached.

The beginnings of CONsent

It’s definitely no secret that cosplayers are subject to harassment, but it’s not any more ok then harassment of anyone anywhere at anytime ever. Harassment is a huge problem in the cosplay community, some people see cosplayers and assume that because they’re dressed up, they no longer get a say in what happens to their body. And frankly cosplayers are sick of it. So the lovely Sushi Killer of 16 Bit Sirens decided to start a project called CONsent.

FFXIV Live Letter VI Leaves A Bit To Be Desired

When I brought you the announcement that Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) Live Letter VI was about to happen last week I speculated that we might get some hard information from Square Enixto share soon. Yoshi-P asked that questions for the FFXIV Live Letter be beta and official launch focused. This led me to believe that some new information may be forthcoming. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Blizzcon 2013 tickets will go on sale on April 24 and 27

Blizzard has just announced that Blizzcon 2013 tickets for their almost-annual convention, will go on sale on April 24 and 27.

Mark your calendars—a Blizzard is coming to Southern California! Tickets for BlizzCon® 2013 will go on sale in two batches on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. PDT and Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. PDT through the official BlizzCon website. In addition, a limited number of tickets to an exclusive pre-BlizzCon Benefit Dinner will go on sale Wednesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. PDT.

BlizzCon 2013 takes place November 8 and 9 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, and tickets to the two-day show will be available at $175 USD each. Tickets to the Benefit Dinner (which includes admission to BlizzCon) will be priced at $500 USD each, with proceeds benefitting Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Tickets to previous BlizzCon events have sold out within minutes, so be sure to synchronize your hourglasses.

Paladins, demon hunters, and Ghosts who can’t make it to the show in person will once again have the option to enjoy BlizzCon from home by ordering a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, offering comprehensive live coverage of the event via a multi-channel Internet stream. Further details on the Virtual Ticket, including pricing, availability, and programming information, will be announced at a later date.

It’s great to see that they are opening up two different purchase times, so that those of us in non-PDT timezones have a chance of getting tickets, which will no doubt be hotly sought-after, particularly following last year’s non-event. Will you be trying to come along? GAMEBREAKER will certainly be there, with rumored announcements of three expansions and Titan, we wouldn’t miss it for the world!

The basic ticket is $175, and offers one BlizzCon badge that grants access to the convention as well as a BlizzCon goody bag containing exclusive swag, which is yet to be announced.

Zac brings high mobility and disruption to the Jungle in League of Legends

Patch 3.5 brought with it several balance changes, the Karma rework, and now Zac is available to play in League of Legends. The man of ooze is being billed as a jungler primarily, although his skill set does allow him to take on other lanes such as top. Health based casting allows him high sustain in whatever role he chooses since using abilities cost him a portion of his health in the form of blobs that fly off of him. Abilities are cast based on a percentage of his current health, but Zac can pick those blobs back up to regain a percentage of his max health, allowing him to stay in a fight at health levels that might send other champions back to base.

In the League of Legends Zac Champion spotlight the range of Zac’s Elastic Slingshot ability is shown off as he jumps great distances and over big chunks of terrain. As a jungler players can utilize this mobility to surprise enemy players in lane from places few other champions can gank from. Just watching the champion spotlight filled me with dread as Zac seemed to be able to enter lane unnoticed from just about any damn where he pleased. Particularly in a bottom lane that can be hard to gank currently, that sort of surprise ability can go a long way towards determining the outcome of a gank.
