Discord is supposedly saying this is going to affect "only 10% of users", but I really don't believe them at all. It's always going to be way worse and affect more people than what they claim.

EDIT: Originally I also included a link to an article, about a tool that could be used to trick face scans for ID checks. I've since been informed that the tool has actually been non-functional for months, checking the GitHub for the tool itself confirms this. I'm very sorry about sharing that link without check on the tool itself!

I don't know of any other alternatives that would help bypass face scans, but hopefully someone else in the reblogs will share something new and working. Or otherwise we hopefully get to a point where Discord stops their nonsense for good.

Hello everyone, I am posting this on behalf of my three cousins, who are requesting mutual aid from the people online in more fortunate circumstances. They are three immigrant workers from the global south and medical refugees in a country in West Asia. Currently, my cousin S is fighting stage 4 breast cancer, and due to a deeply upsetting and misogynistic situation, she, alongside her brother and sister, all working class, were forced out of the home they were staying at.

My aunt recently had the opportunity to come and help S with her illness; Unfortunately, while there, she suffered two heart attacks. I am gathering funds to support S in three ways. First is to extend our aunt's visa as she is in no condition to return home. Second is to alleviate their food and housing insecurity, as their combined income is eaten away by S’ cancer treatments and rent. Third is to pad their emergency funds, as S’ chemotherapy is unavailable in our home country and only available in where they are currently immigrated to. Again, we are so grateful beyond words for all the help!!

I am so excited and proud to share this comic/illustration with you all. Based on an excerpt from the written piece “State of Siege” by the famous Palestinian author Mahmoud Darwish. It tells stories from Palestine during the siege in the early 2000s. I dedicate this comic to the memory of Falasteen Saleh Abu Arar and her unborn child Saba Mahmoud Abu Arar (may they rest in peace) whos lifes were taken by the israel military on May 4th 2019, when the IOF was targeting the Gazastrip, one of the most densly populated places on earth. Mahmoud Darwish wrote “State of Siege” in 2002 and now, nearly 2 decades later, like without a doubt 2 decades prior to the siege, Palestinian women have their life taken in the same way, by the same people. If you havent cared about the occupation before, maybe now is the time to inform yourself and take a stand against the oppression and cruelty the Palestinian people have to endure.

theres a type of content online in which people investigate strangers and they dont even have to be celebrities and the reason doesnt even have to be bad that just consists of documenting all prior actions of the user. stuff like they once shared a picture of x or they once mentioned y or they were following z thats just normalized in tandem with being pushed by algorithms as gossip entertainment or information thats kinda been informing the way i use the internet and part of sucking the joy out of every website actually. and its not really an inconsequential form of self governance in a lot of people's cases either. i dont feel like lying anymore online i dont feel like telling the truth either i just dont feel like posting anything unless it is in a truly private space. and the only solution would kinda be for sites to stop promoting it. its to the point it comes across as derivative and a waste of time. slop if you will. most of my online activity since i was 11 being linked in a way thats publicly accessible feels like a heavy weight on me. the consciousness i use to judge the sensibility of my own actions has regrettably taken the format of an online investigation.

Anyway, when I was in college I was constantly going to marches and protests against canadian and saudi mining projects in the Santurbán páramo, one of the most important ecosystems in Colombia in terms of biodiversity, and the source of drinking water of 30+ municipalities in my state, including the city I live in. Ultimately these mining proposals lost their license due to environmental regulations.

But now that our new far-right president elect is looking to suck up to imperial core powers once again, canadian mining corporation Aris mining is interested in re-starting mining projects in Santurbán. Which, would inevitably give cyanide poisoning not only to my city's drinking water, but 30+ other municipalities and indigenous communities.

I cannot even explain how ANGRY I am at this.

My nephew is very allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Last year my sister discovered all hot dogs and hamburger buns now contain sesame. Not "may contain", but listed in the ingredients. This year basically every brand of sliced bread also now contains sesame, making it very difficult to find bread items he can eat.

They're just adding it to their products, so they can just list it as an ingredient and not bother with worrying about cross contamination. And they aren't even bothering with telling anyone. Capitalism is going to kill us all.

Oh, Mon is the our local addison! …then who the hell is Grass? Anyways, Mon is another one of our illustrators who brings the LOVE in I LOVE TV. And the I and the TV. I can always count on them to bring their best, especially when their wallet depends on me!

GG is the last of the illustrators that I'll be introducing today! Her whimsy helps lighten the air of the studio and brings a fun energy to our functions. But it's her nonstop work ethic that really 🦭SEALS🦭 the deal! Plus she can balance like a ball on my nose!

Chris is a familiar face (and familiar name) and is our main graphics mod! She helps with our "sock med" accounts and you'll never catch her without a handy speechbubble or pattern ready. After all, you can't spell graphics without several letters from Chris! (Some would say all, even.)
