tumblr users baffled by the concept of engaing with things that aren't YA fiction and fandom.
Also certain demographic of tumblr users unaware of linear time, and that Percy Jackson didn't exist until 2005, and many of us predate Percy Jackson by decades.
For me it was being obsessed with the original Clash of the Titans from at age 3, which led to me first reading the Odyssey and the Iliad in 5th grade (they were the only greek mythology books in the school library)
terrifying when you watch a movie or a show or whatever & youre like that was fun but it felt a little redundant they didnt need to hammer the point home that much & then you go online & theres thousands of people going that was so weird i did not get it what did that mean google.com ending explained please?
I know that I have an issue with overexplaining myself in books. I know it can get repetitive, and I cut so much more than makes it into the final draft.
And I do this because I have grown up in a world where I can say dinner is my magic onion secret surprise (the surprise is onions) eight times, and still have someone sit down, take a bite, and then ask me if there are onions in there.
I had this exact experience with GDTs Frankenstein, thinking his brother explicitly saying "you're the monster Victor" was a little over the top and on the nose, but then there were still people saying it's woke now, GDT was making Victor the monster this time, and I'm like ohhhh, lots of you have no media literacy.

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

“It’s not mythologically accurate” ya think? lol. Modern interpretations of mythos are hardly ever ‘accurate’ (tho how accurate can you be when the original story tellers have been dead for over 2000 years). “The age gap is egregious” and we’re suddenly against May-December romances? Have they stopped making YA Vampire boyfriends? “The art is samey” weekly comics tend to do that.
It’s Really Not That Bad. In fact, I think it does a really good job of doing what it was intended to do. Some of yall need to chill.

But one thing I really liked about Lore Olympus is how it integrated less well known parts of the mythology into it's story. Like the whole Dread Persephone, which is from older versions of her myth where she was always an underworld deity as opposed to more recent(but still ancient) versions where she began as a nature deity and became an underworld deity.
Like with the Percy Jackson/greater Riordan greek fantasy stuff, it can introduce people to lesser known myths.

ok so this is another long shot but a few years ago there was a twitter post (in japanese i think?) that had measurememts for how to make this book stand thing out of cardboard that you could use to double up books and use up more space on shelves
back then i made a bunch of these but by now i lost the pic and dont know how to find the original post anymore
if it comes down to it i can just take one apart and get the measurements from there but i would be very grateful if anyone happens to have the original post or something similar??
don't mind how long it's been since i made this post, anyway i realized that i don't even need to take one apart to get the measurements when i can literally just unfold it and refold it /FACEPALM
so anyway here is the diagram for anyone else who is interested!!
this requires pretty big carboard pieces, if you have a really big box or something you can make it from one piece, but if you don't, you can also just make each of the pieces individually and then tape them together
and then in the end you put it together like this!!
and then when you make a bunch you can put them all next to each other and stack your books like crazy
