TBH I always finish the story before going on to the sidequests.... Although I really wanted to do some bounty hunts because I was running low on Gil but uhm. The monsters didn’t spawn for any hunts-- SO I JUST WENT ON WITH THE MAIN QUESTS. But now I still got all of the sidequests to do which is also nice
