PSYCH STUDENT! JOHAN + WORRIED PARTNER JAN SUK DRABBLE?
Stressed out and sleep-deprived, Johan looked over his pile of notes, books, and papers as he attempted to finish a paper one of his professors had asked him to accomplish as a student research assistant. He must’ve downed 3 or 4 cups of coffee as sleepiness looms over him.
Jan noticed how his partner frequently slept at ungodly hours these past few weeks. Aside from the darned paper, the latter spent an entire week reading and memorizing his lecture notes for a series of quizzes. Keywords and terms highlighted in yellow, arrows leading to more notes and disclaimers, hasn't he gone crazy yet? Adding more to the chaos, Johan thought it was a good idea to accept an offer to become a research assistant. Jan kept on urging him to continue writing, but heard mumbles of 'I need to finish this for my professor to check for any possible mistakes.' in return.
Well, this wasn’t the first time one of them experienced being in tough situations resulting to sleep deprivation, but of course, health is a priority too.
'And being a university student kind of sucks,' Jan thought, choosing to ignore the fact that his work also sucks.
Holding a glass of water, he approached Johan and placed a hand on his back to grab his attention, "Johan dear, you haven't drunk water in a while. Drink this instead of coffee."
Without looking away from his paper and placing his pen down, he replied, "Thank you, darling. Can you please put it beside the books?"
"Dear, it doesn't hurt to stop writing and take a well-deserved break, even for just a few minutes."
"This paper is set to be presented internationally soon. I want to finish it with as few potential revisions as possible."
Jan sighed, placing down the glass as instructed, "When's the deadline?"
"Johan," the detective sighed, "Next month is a bit far of a deadline. There's definitely room for further revisions, y'know? Don't fret for a while and rest, hm?"
Not wanting to disappoint (or frustrate) Jan further -- knowing how naggy he is at certain times, Johan decided that it's probably better to rest. They sat on the couch, soft enough to slowly drift to sweet slumber, and opened the television to watch a random melodrama from the Czech drama channel. The scenes and dialogues were indeed dramatic, but it distracted Johan from circulating thoughts on his paper. He gave the humble apartment's grandfather clock a glance and finally understood what Jan meant.
It's already 10 PM, yet he hasn't eaten dinner due to being so absorbed on the damn paper.
Sooner or later, he felt hunger crawling into his system. The mind yells at him to eat, but he does not wish to ruin the peaceful atmosphere in the living room.
But then, certain stomach grumbling noises echoed through their own little world.
