Rosalind wants to string popcorn and cranberries into garlands but Ben buys like double butter microwave popcorn and eats half of it anyway
One year, Jeffrey and Alec come to stay with the Penderwicks, leading to a very full and chaotic house. After two nights of Jeffrey sleeping on the floor of Skye and Jane's room, and thus being subject to their weird midnight conversations, during which, seven new versions of jingle bells are written, the latter five of which Rosalind bans them from singing while Ben and Lydia are in the room.
(Because I adore @hanchewie's Jewish Geigers headcanon) The Penderwicks (especially Rosy) often join the Geigers in their Hanukkah celebrations, and when the two of them later move in together, they continue this tradition. Skye does not care about Christmas. They just like the vacation days.
However, to the surprise of many, Skye gives the best presents.
Iantha and Skye go stargazing together on the clearest, darkest nights. It is one of the things Skye looks forward to most when they come home from California.
Jane and Martin go around to all the bookshops in the area on Christmas Eve, buying last minute gifts and treating themselves to some lit literature :D
Jane is obsessed with musicals as a thirteen year old and writes a one-person musical based on "Jingle Bells." It is surprisingly not terrible.
