The young chutes of our first garlic. Those are chopsticks, placed at planting time last fall to mark the location of the bulbs. Â My gardengrlz podcast cohost, compassionategardener, last summer was wondering why I was stockpiling these take-out utensils - for use in the garden, of course!

Season is officially over for me. Put away all the chairs, swing, bird bath, and rain barrels. Still growing are leeks and maybe small kale. See you in the spring back yard!
Unusual harvest - this emerged from where the giant shrub used to be. I’m growing tools - level up! Maybe WoW farms could grow gear?

Melon harvest. And I even gave 2 to my sister! Had to harvest all but one. Lost 1 to over ripeness.
Clearly I am the breeding ground for them--swallowtails? I hope so; they are my favorites.

Top is just a pretty little still-life.
Bottom left is hard to see, but there's a caterpillar just forming its cocoon in the crook of that branch. It was over my head and difficult to get a better picture.
Third is what happens when you pay more attention to your camera than to where you're walking. If you watch the video in the previous post, you'll see the tree stump with which I collided, near the end. The actual collision was after I had finished the video.

Here's the answer to the dill bug question. Now I know/can see what the are---butterflies, maybe swallowtail.
Oceanside garden from our walk this morning in Castine, Maine. The open lattice makes a nice perimeter, but leaves it more open than some fencing. From the walking-by viewpoint, it looks like they have a nice layout of raised beds inside, but they seem to have recently harvested.
