I’m BACK for the 2020 Season

New year. New me.

FUCK peppers because the seeds are expensive and are too sensitive

Large tomatoes are OUT, cherry tomatoes are IN

36 corn plants? Growing (I staggered the batches even tho you’re not suppose too oops I’ll just hand pollinate I’ll be fine maybe)

Brambles are in this year. We love a berry

Peas? Poppin. Doing really well

Beans. Seen better days and I mixed up the varieties. Oh well it’ll be a surprise when I harvest I guess

Does hennyone have any tips n’ tricks on getting poppy seeds to sprouts??

Do they like heat? Cold ?? Light?? Surface sow or barley cover ??

Does anyone know why the first true leaves are turning tan/yellow at the edges? They were fine yesterday and it almost looks like they have frost damage but they have been inside this whole time and it has not been below 50 degrees in the house

Today was a big potting day!

I seeded the herbs, less the cinnamon basil and cilantro bc I FORGOT, but the other basils, mints and chives were planted.

We have 18 corn sprouts so far and the tomatos are doing good, I potted the ones from the redo even tho in retrospect I didn’t even need to restart and I was just being dramatic

These fucking peppers tho!! The keep fucking dying!! A sprout came up but then immediately rotted so idk what tf is going on but we are down to two new sprouts so I started 3 more seeds

The zinnias sprouted too and I bought some hollyhock seeds bc I’m extra

So after our (my) fiasco with the first tomato plants I THOUGHT I killed them ALL, but I did NOT, I only killed MOST of them. I have been secretly tending to the least damaged ones and the ones that survived are doing so good now! They have baby first true leaves so that’s good. They are only black krim (3) San marzano (1) and the pot of brandywine that survived unscathed (8).

I planted the corn in their paper pots after the started growing roots in water on Sunday night, none have sprouted yet but some have roots popping out the bottom already 😅

I lost the pot of peppers entirely which is sad but I have two replacement sprouts but they are a slow growing plant so I’m not going to get a big harvest (I’ll be happy just to get enough fruit to replenish my seed supply next year)

The tomato seeds that I restarted have been potted too but no sprouts yet; I paper towel them to test viability and them pot them before the root grows through the paper towel.

I started a pot of zinnia that had sprouted (roots only) on Sunday while I was doing the corn and none have come up so maybe they died idk

I have a pot of citrus seeds that I started too that I plan to use as root stock and try grafting other varieties too in a year or so if they survive

I think I’m going to start my herb pots when I get back in two weeks and by then it should be warm enough for the basil to sprout I heated

Update: 🌷Good news and Bad News 🥀

My tomatos may have been a bust (restarted the seeds but it’s only one week before last frost so they may not mature before the summer heat in like june) but the corn seeds are coming along great.

I started the 60 for the plot and I’ll prob have another 20 in pots

I got a trellis arch for the beans at a garage sale all I need to do is find the right size screws for it

It SNOWED for like 20mins in my zone 9 area so maybe there will be a little more time before the last frost that I anticipated so my plants won’t be AS behind.

They will still be like 3 weeks behind tho which is :/ but we are pushing thru it

WORST NEWS

I just had an accident and fucking dropped all but one pot of my tomato seedling literally can save any of the ones I dropped the stems are bent and I’m going to have to start over but the last frost is 1-3 weeks away and it’s like I’m not even going to have time for them to grow anymore. I’m so heartbroken bc I feel so stupid about what happened :(

The only pot that survived was the brandywine, lost the Abe Lincoln, San marzano, and black krim. I would have to restart the seeds but the frost date is in like 2-3 weeks, can anyone offer some advice whether there’s enough time to even do that? I’m just really sad

So I’m planning on growing 60 corn plants in my plot and maybe 7 more in a huge pot

I thinned the tomato sprouts, black krim took a hit and a lot just wilted but I had two pots so there are plenty left

I wish I would have gotten one tomato variety of each color but I guess that’s for next year
