[🐚] Pearl's certainly had her doubts about her and Finn's relationship, which while these thoughts were present while the center was still open, became worse after the shutdown when Pearl became more "self aware", in a sense.

As it had been nowadays, what with the lack of guests to the center and all. There were no book club meetings today either. So, in this somewhat rare moment of Astro being wide awake when the sun was still out, he wasn't sure what to do with himself other than partake in his favorite astronomy book.

[🎃] Continuing from this. The reason Jackson's so good at Swimmy Barnaby (5⭐ in Skill Check) is because, similar to Soulvester, Gourdy would sometimes come to him to help him with a hard level. You can always count on your older brother for that!

But aside from that, I feel like he'd be a gamer regardless, especially during the times outside his holiday when he's in isolation. Also something something the "Olderbrothercore" thing he's got going on (adult man that acts mostly like a teenage boy).

[😇] You'd be surprised, but Halo's pretty good at Swimmy Barnaby too (5⭐ in skill check). But it's less of "gamer skill" and more of Halo just being generally good at focusing and keeping his composure. Like Dandy, he's better with classic/retro games whereas Luci is better at "modern" ones.

[🦴] I think Shelly is good at Swimmy Barnaby (5⭐ in skill check) for the same reason that she's good with sewing. Girl has a habit of picking up hobbies as confirmed by her dialogue with Bobette and Sprout. So who's to say that gaming isn't one of them?

Plus it fits when you consider her relationship with Finn and how similar the two are, Swimmy Barnaby is HIS game after all (well technically it's Barnaby's but still).

[🎲] While Dinah doesn't have much in terms of "gamer experience", she does learn pretty quickly so she can pick up almost any game and be at least decent at it (harking back to her "adaptability = survival" theme here.). I like to think when Dinah went up at night to get supplies pre-shutdown, she would sometimes sneak some rounds of Swimmy Barnaby or Sneaky Gigi, for funsies.

She kicks ass at Solitaire and Mario Party especially.

I think it's so funny that the "Swimmy Barnaby" machines imply that Skill Check = Gamer skill because Vee (4⭐) and Qwerty (5⭐) are literally technology themselves and are the objects people use to play video games on.

Meanwhile these bitches (/aff) have skill issues lol (2⭐ for all except Blot, who has 1⭐)

[🐚] So! Finn's new lore makes me so giddy because, for one thing, I was right that Finn doesn't have many people to listen to his marine biology lessons! But also it gave me prime opportunity to expand upon Pearl's lore, and what exactly her deal is.

Pearl’s lore is being made so Finn could have someone to tell his know-how to. Since it’s confirmed most people are just there for his jokes. Pearl being naive and ditzy as she is mainly is so Finn could continue fulfilling his education role (an “audience surrogate” for the lessons, if that makes sense), even it's just to another Toon. She lacks much in terms of agency because she was made to fulfill another Toon’s purpose and not her own, independent, purpose.

To an extent, Pearl was made as an accessory for Finn. Which is fitting because her trinket is her pearl necklace, something to wear as an accessory.

Of course Finn doesn’t treat her that way, but the show and the reason Pearl was made in the first place does. Pearl does have some things going for her (such as her desire for legs and interest in collecting “land dweller” objects), but she’s not the only collector (Gigi) and her desire for legs can never be fulfilled with how “Status-quoey” the show is (“But who cares, no big deal, I want more!” /ref).

Her desire for legs became symbolic of wanting to discover her own purpose. To be free, not of Finn ofc, but of the restrictions that came with her current and birth-given purpose. Pearl wants to be more independent, but has no idea where to begin and/or if anyone will understand that.

The big question, the one she has trouble finding the answer to is…What can Pearl become without Finn? Is that even possible? Or will her purpose forever be bound to him?

And those animations for Poppy and Boxten my god! /pos ))#(( I also like how Barnaby is more involved with Twisted Finn now. Since I remember a lot of people were making concepts for Twisted Barnab #(( That also confirms that Barnaby is in fact a Toon! Just like Dandy said! If he can become Twisted. That means he's a Toon! ))

When I think of your URL I think of your thoughtfully constructed canon portrayals and lovingly put together ocs! You put in alot of effort to make them feel "real" and they blend in really well because of that, I enjoy plotting with you! I think our ideas mesh swimmingly with one another's. Additionally, your art is very nice! You match the game's artstyle super well c:

But most of all, when I think about your URL I think of you being an imperative part of why I got into the DW rpc to begin with. See back when I was on the fence of doing it, I asked myself "Is there even an rp demographic for this game?" because at the time I had only known of one other person writing for it (SHOUTOUT GLISTEN‼️ @hymns-across-the-stars), after one search I had found you, and that was the nail in the coffin for me, that "Screw it, there's enough demographic, let's do it" moment

&& That really, really stuck with me, you know? To be frank you were inadvertently part of the reason I had decided to get back into C.uphead rp via making Carrie's blog despite the fact the rpc is very small. I went back to that exact moment when I discovered you and thought "Sometimes all it takes is one person"

H7U8HSIAHVIOSP!! AHHHHHHH!!! /vpos This makes me so happy to hear all this you have no idea! The fact you noticed the care and effort I put into my OCs to make them believable within the setting AND that you think about my art is just ahhhhh so nice! I do sometimes get insecure about the latter but I'm glad to hear that you think it's great!

And honestly, the same can be said on my end in regards to the "Sometimes all it takes is one person" thing. I was pretty doubtful while making gardenvciw (the blog prior to this one) since despite it's popularity, Roblox games don't usually get represented in the RP community. But I came across a blog that did have Roblox characters on it's roster and felt "Well, wouldn't hurt to give them a try!".

And the fact that had a hand in the creation of Carrie's blog makes me think how I inspire people without even realizing it, and that's why I make art, writing, and do roleplay in the first place. To share my ideas and inspire people with them!

And in turn, you inspire me! I'm always excited to see what you post! Speaking of which, I've been meaning to send some stuff your way for Carrie's blog (since I have Cuphead verses and all).

And I've been wanting to make a Cuphead OC as well, the only reason I haven't is because of my DW hyperfixation, but I do have an idea for the OC at least!
