pow! a fist bump for the ages.

yuri's relieved he doesn't have to be the one patching anyone up today. even after military training, his first aid's average at best.

"i guess we do work pretty well together," all the positive attention's leaving him flustered, though a sheepish head scratch is the only reaction he lets slip. "alright, you can join in if you promise to tone down all the worship. it's embarrassing," and that's all there is to it. back to recruiting random teens while going about questionable errands... he really needs to shake that habit at some point.

"that reminds me, you wanted to see the goods, right?" yuri opens a pouch at his hip, revealing... a tiny stuffed animal keychain (goofy-looking, too). "that gang stole this along with a bunch of other stuff from the guy who hired me. it's all he wanted back, though. must be important to him or something." maybe it's a blow to garet's expectations, but hey, that's business for ya. "still worth the scratch?"

"Worship given where worship is due!" And since he's done doing the bidding to one nameless singular-eyed magic rock, Garet figures it can all go to his new butt-kicking bro! "Oh, yeah, what'd we scrap those guys for anyway?"

Hm. Somehow, this is anticlimactic. Garet tries to only let his shoulders slump a little and swallows down what would have been a holler of, "WE FIGHT FOR JUSTICE," or something along those lines.

"Oh, uh, that's... That's something." A bead of sweat trails down his temple and he grabs at Yuri's shoulder, suddenly needing to hold on to something.

"Wait, so... "You did all of that... "It was for this!... "..." His grip tightens and his forced grinning remains as he blinks at Yuri, pale-faced. "You knew this going in?" Garet's voice croaks hoarsely. "Partner, I think you're a better man than me... Let's... let's finish this..."

She smiles big, bigger than she was earlier. She was very happy to be helpful to him. She knew that navigating a strange new world with new rules could be tough at first. Most games she had been to in the past did not have tutorials either. It was so much nicer to have something of a guide to help.

She nods affirmingly, putting away her own phone. “Excellent! Well, as promised..” She unclips the little disk from her belt. On the surface are several little rounded pearls, with a large purple one in the center. There is 6 total, with all but 1 matching its color. The one is a shade of pink, similar to her hair.

Pressing the center one, it begins to faintly glow, followed by pressing the pink one. She points the device to the ground. In a quick beam of light, a creature appears on the ground! Small, pink with what looks like flowers on the side of his head. He shakes himself off projecting a small electronic chirp.

It doesn’t take long for him to notice the stranger. He smiles big and approached him with a wagging tail.

“This is … Arley. He’s called an Aquelea where I’m from, and one of the 5 companions I have.” Or rather would need to unlock evidently, but that was neither here nor there. “He’s very friendly, I assure you.”

Garet peers over her curiously as she starts messing with the disk unclipped from her belt. The glowing lights remind him of some of the caverns laced with Psynergy in his travels and he, "Ooooh," 's as he had back then. The beam of light has him jump back and throw an arm over his face and-

-when he dares to peek past it again, he's astounded to see an adorable little guy walking up to him with a waggity tail and all!

"AHHH. AHHH?" He crouches excitedly and extends a gloved hand, willing the cute creature to come closer towards him so he can pet it!

"You're like a little grass dog, aren't'cha, little pal?! Arley is his name? He's way cuter than the things the Elemental Stars set us up with!" Yeah, Flint had been a right bastard when they'd met him, and every single one of Garet's Mars Djinni had burned him, literally, at some point in his journeys.

"Are they all so friendly and cute?! What can you do, boy?" He cranes his neck up to beam at Saoirse. "Does he have little flower powers or something?!"

Albedo was just peacefully wandering around Gold ward as it was her home. She loves the ward already than the other ones. 3F was already drawn if ever anyone dares as she can't blame herself for being beautiful. Her charms are unique but dangerous.

She had no idea that she was followed by someone but it might be the wind knowing her stalker might be clever.

Merely looking around while strolling, there is a vending machine but alas, she knows how to use it but it was kinda different to her height. She uses her phone to spend a little dust, grabbing root beer in a can to drink while some boys in distance, looking at those curves Albedo has. Two root beers, she took if ever thirsty after a single can.

Right when she found another bench to sit, she drank one while her eyes were on a cautious lookout.

Is it time for a break?! After rolling past several curbs and trash cans, Garet spots the figure he's following take a seat and enjoy a fresh drink of... something.

Where did it even come from?! From the magic box she'd approached?! She'd done something with her phone box thing and it'd given her a drink, right? HOW?!

He's kinda thirsty himself, but he's gotta be strong! Once she moves again, he'll try to sneak behind the magic drink-giving-box and wait there...

But since he's waiting... His hand sticks out and tries to grab at the slot she'd pulled from, but he's still cradled around the side, looking like a fool trying to grasp at nothing.

wha??? “gro… groceries aren’t-” You ever just get so confused by a train of thought that you aren’t sure how to respond? If Guritchi was able to take control, it probably could just based on how confused she was at this moment. “uh. Yes you… you should probably replace the tacos. I am very sorry.”

"Ugh... guess I'll do that now. Thanks for the tips as always, Saoirse!" Garet gives her something of a mock salute and high-tails it towards the merchant shops, in hopes of finding something LIKE a taco to place back on the counter back home. "I WON'T FORGET HOW YOU'VE HELPED ME."

She had nothing else to say yet as seeing a poor rabbit hurt may led into further worst consenquences if he keeps doing it till it dies from being squeezed. Rabbits don't talk and never done any crimes unless proven right.

Her hand shows thunder and she's ready to put this one out of his misery but not yet. This has to be settled with words, not violence unless wanted to.

"Hand the rabbit to me gently." She awaits for him to give the rabbit to her with sincerity as she's about to explode in any chance.

'Adept'? She had no clue. She's just a magic caster maid disguised as an adventurer.

Well, he's technically got nothing left to lose... Worst she can do is set it free and he's off on another chase, right?

Garet sighs and jumps to his feet in a funny motion, unwilling to loosen even one arm's grip on the rabbit as he does so. Waddling over, he stretches out his hands with the bunny in tow, relinquishing it.

"Okay- I guess I can give you some of that funny Dust money if you can get it to spill the beans and tell you where my stuff is. Give it your best, though! This one's holding fast to its secrets!"

“Ah, so you’re a merchant type, Badou the Ferocious?! Do you sell breakfast nails?” He’s curious about these other worlds and why people wouldn’t want to return. Maybe they can come to Weyard with their weird gadgets? “I’ve seen a buncha tough lookin’ people here… I’m guessing no one’s short on bodyguard types, right?”

“No way, those are just for me. Like Popeye and his spinach,” he laughs. Yeah right. He’s hard boiled, as is. No need for merchant-ry. He’s better at peddling information, and likes it more as well. 

Badou hums thoughtfully.

“Maybe during certain times, or more newbies like you. They’d need some guidance….might have to go for rich types since many here are fighters…or have figured it out.”

"Well, no one's gonna mess with you after watching you chow down, that's for sure!"

So, that kinda work is out, probably... Garet sighs, rolling his head around his neck as he walks in a half-hearted stretch. "What the heck do rich people even need? You got any rich friends?"

At last, hearing Garet’s words, Starline exhales- he’d hardly even noticed that he was holding his breath. With the memory of Rough and Tumble on his mind, paired with the boy’s lingering gaze on his glove, he halfway expected him to try to take it. Thankfully, this boy seemed to be at least somewhat courteous- he could appreciate that.

Starline shoots a pointed, side-eyed glance at the young man as he seats himself at the table without asking. Nevermind.

Patiently, he waits for Garet to finish. As mildly irritating as this young man was, Starline’s pride could simply not turn his away. After all, who else could answer all the burning questions on this fresh, inquisitive mind but an expert?

“This is the only glove, yes, but it can be fitted with different attachments to channel different effects.” He pauses, thoughtfully stroking the underside of his bill.

“I have created similar equipment in the past using Power Cores, but I have no clue where I could source those here- or if they even exist in this world at all.”

"So, it can do different things..." Garet hums thoughtfully, pondering that for a second. Yeah, this guy's definitely a Kraden of his world, probably working to unlock the secrets of Alchemy or whatever the equivalent is where he's from.

"Well, you already did it once, so couldn't you just find some stuff here and make something similar? Or is that, like... less fun for someone with your brain?"

Actually, he seems quite smart. Quite smart! Garet straightens up in his chair suddenly, pounding the table in excitement.

"Whoa, I bet you're just the person who could figure out why the heck we're all here or even how to get back, right? I even bet you already have some ideas about it all!"

He looks to Dr. Starline now, auburn eyes bright with excitement and hope.

❝ … Garet, I heard you were looking for chocolate? ❞ She asks with a slight tilt of her head. It's perhaps not shocking that Cuscuta found out what Garet was doing on the holiday, probably thanks to his not so subtle approach of asking for sweets. Still, she seems to dig into a small bag for a moment before pulling out a small black box; inside was an assortment of chocolates. ❝ I'm not sure what it'll taste like or if you'll like them … but these are all chocolates. ❞ She hands him the box. ❝ Happy Valentine's day. ❞

Garet whirls around on his heels at the mention of- YES, free chocolate, that was him who was asking!

At the sight of the small Cuscuta, he grins broadly, the corners of his eyes welling with tears- his search was not in vain! And, of course, it's gotta be the flower cultivating Cuscuta who honors his call!

"Happy- Valentine's Day?" Shoot, it almost feels like he should be giving them something in return with such a festive greeting (what IS Valentine's Day, though?!), but as he pats his pockets down, he's got nothing except some of the chocolate-covered fruit that he'd snagged from the one he thinks is called Wang Yi, if his phone box thing is to be believed...

WELL, YEAH, he can part with some of these! Picking out the tastiest looking ones, he offers some to her, accepting her box with a sniffle.

"CUSCUTA, thank you! I'm gonna love 'em no matter what! Here, you gotta take some of these; they're from that Wang Yi guy, and they're NOT poisonous, I think, so definitely eat up!"

He holds out his hands expectantly. “I am here for my free chocolate!”

'Huh?'

'...did Sun put you up to this or something?'

He can't think of anyone else he knows with enough nonsense in his head to convince strangers to come ask him for sweets.

'I don't have any—wait.' Right. The evidence of his gifts...he was thinking of how to get rid of that.

'Stay right here,' he says to the weirdo before running back into his house and storming through the kitchens to gather up everything he has left.

Minutes later has Wang Yi dashing back out with a dish covered in saran wrap, full of (rejected) fruit skewers dipped in chocolate, either because they weren't dipped right or their flavors kinda clashed. It's not quite what the guy asked for, but it'll have to do. Besides, he never specified what kind of chocolate he wanted.

'Take these with you and uh, don't come back. At least not today,' he says, all but pushing the plate into the guy's hands. 'You'll do me a favor if you eat them all.'

'...also, who are you again?'

… okay. She’s definitely going to get him a phone case (an industrial one at that). Though, she’s not upset with him. Quite the opposite actually, his curiosity and honesty are charming in a way. She merely smiled as he returns.

“I… apologize! Perhaps I should’ve warned you that the device would vibrate sooner. if it… ‘shakes’ as you call it, then that means someone is calling you! It might be me, or could be others.” She clicks a little start by his name, adding him to a favorites list.

“There are many reasons to call someone. If you need assistance, have a question, or want to say hi! I will likely not be in danger. You may call me as well, or perhaps texting would be better.” clicking a little envelope icon, she demonstrates the texting feature by typing hello in the box.

“This will vibrate once you receive it. “ She giggles a little, before hitting send. “We can communicate without using our voices at all.” That was really the main two features she wished to demonstrate. Frankly to explain the entirety of how the internet worked would… probably take a month. Aside from how to take care of the phone and charge it, he should be okay… theoretically.

“Before I show you my anima’s do you have any questions? And yes, I’m positive the box is not evil, nor did it steal your psynergy. I wish I could be more helpful to your plight, but I have only been here for a month myself.”

"Oh, man, you don't have to apologize! I should've expected this thing would try to throw me off guard again. But, don't worry, I'm super prepared now!" Garet thumps his chest, reaffirming with a broad grin. Shaking means a call... got it! It'd said 'swipe to answer', so he could handle that, probably! He watches her click the tiny envelope inside the box with interest, blinking when the envelope morphs into another screen, where she enters her message after all the letters pop up. "It'll vibrate! Okay!" He clutches it tightly with both hands this time, watches the 'send' get pressed, and, to his credit, only almost drops it this time, holding it up after some staggered grasps with triumph!

"You won't best me again, punk!" His glaring diminishes as the message icon pops up, and after some rough tapping, he's able to get it open to display Saoirse's 'hello' message. "Ahhh! AHHH." He shows it to her with his mouth gaping. "There it is! No way... This is..." Mind reeling from the sheer usefulness this phone box is suddenly starting to emanate, Garet nods, shakes his head, and nods again. "Ye- no... sorry, yeah, no! This is way more than enough... Thank you!" He'll pocket the phone for now, with more care than he'd previously displayed, and grins at Saoirse with a revitalized stance. "Let's see your buddy! Aw, man, I wish I'd brought a treat..."

this is going downhill fast... it isn't a deep wound from what he can tell, but the sight of blood activates his protective instincts all the same. luckily, his quick thinking with the banana peel leaves their foe baffled long enough for yuri to storm in and finish him off, too focused to even quip.

"shining fang!" his sword twirls round-and-around in his hand; it may be wooden, but repeated hits to the noggin should take a guy out just fine...

...and stay down! he's got someone to check up on.

"fumbled in the second half, but... you did good," he's genuinely smiling now, the corners of his eyes crinkling juuust a bit. up you go! he makes sure to pull him by his good arm before steering toward the exit. it isn't worth it to stick around any longer, especially not with an injury. he already got what he came for anyway.

once they're well away from the alley, yuri suddenly stops and... bursts into a loud fit of laughter, batting at garet's shoulder, "seriously? a banana peel, kid?"

Skills, lines, brawn, brain, AWESOME FIGHTING MOVE NAMES, this guy's got it all, a true hero! Garet gawks as the technique following Yuri's shout takes out the peel'd man, pumping up a fist in cheer -

-and is expertly hauled up by Yuri, praised, and led to safety! Pressing down on the shallow wound all the while, he can't help but grin back triumphantly at the sound of an amused partner.

"Maybe I panicked a teeny bit... Lucky for me, they don't do the whole compost thing!" He strips off a piece of his shirt to knot around his arm for now (just like the old days, his pre-healer-in-the-party days!), and pulls it tight with his teeth before holding out a fist to fist bump Yuri.

"We make a good team, huh? Thanks for saving me back there! Man, your last attack was so cool! That guy's gonna see stars for weeks! ... Oh, but, uh, there's still the delivery part of your job left, right? I'll help you see it through! PLEASE."

Aw, he can't? Staring down the glove with intense brown eyes, Garet suddenly straightens up and nods in understanding - there's no way it would fit him right and he probably would end up damaging it! "Yeah, you're right- wouldn't want to mess up something that's close to your heart!"

Well, while the Doc is enjoying a nice drink, Garet decidedly takes a seat at his table, hands plastered on either side of the surface. "Can you make more gloves that can do other things, too? Yours sounds good for travel, but you could make so many other kinds with the right rocks, right? Do you have more already? Or is this your... uh... masterpiece?" Maybe that's the right word. Garet wonders if something like this could help people that don't have Psynergy!

“… I’m afraid so. If you did not purchase it, then it is not yours.” She pats him in solace on the back. “Do you need me to introduce you to grocery stores and restaurants? Uh, or maybe the marketplace and… taverns?”

Rest in peace Garet. Hopefully, he had understanding roommates.

"I guess some things are the same in every world, no matter where you go..." With all of these fancy not-magic devices, what's the point if there's no free food?! "Someone named Frye taught me how to use the money thing... Guess I gotta go get tacos with that, huh?" He... pockets the remaining taco half. That'll hold. "I know all about grocery stores! That's where they store the groceries! Which are gross items! Thanks, Saoirse, but I can find gross items in the trash cans; no need to get your hands dirty on my account!"

“Yeah, plenty of ‘em.”

So in his homeworld he can just, loot foes. Pretty neat, easy enough too. Convenient.

“You can get a job. Or start your own business, that’s what I did. Offer whatever service you have and you can bank on someone taking you up on it.”
