dad: why doesn't speech and debate have a reality show if pageants and dancing and cheerleading and gymnastics and those types of competitive after school activities do?

mom: because speech and debate has too many girls in suits instead of leotards, and they're all speaking their mind.

what do you mean by there are no girls in debate?

Of course there are /some/ girls, but long story short, debate events are generally very male dominated. Also, girls in debate often face gender stereotypes and objectification that impact the way judges/competitors view us.
