In case anyone needs the reminder:

Al-Hashimi's switchup on Langdon, in the context of everything we know about her and how fully progressive we know her to be, has nothing to do with the fact that he had an addiction (to which she was very supportive right off the bat) and everything to do with the way that he was endangering patients at what is now her hospital and also lied to her face about it, and her understanding that he was retaliating against a woman in a less-senior position for being onto him. Because one can be progressive and still believe that people own their actions, own the consequences, own the responsibility to make amends in the right way, and should not be coddled when it comes to those things, AND should be honest about what they've done when returning to the same place of work, with the same coworkers, where their harm occurred.

trinity santos is a study in fandom misogyny because they gave her all the characteristics fandoms usually salivate for in men, being gruff, quippy and misunderstood with a tragic backstory but a heart of gold beneath it all. they put all this into her AND let her be a lesbian. she's everything you could ever want in a character but she's not a man so half the fandom either hates her or constantly mischaracterizes her as petty, callous and aggressive while doing mental gymnastics to baby the male characters around her

i’m not gonna lie i really didn’t have any major qualms about the first two murderbot episodes aside from this one really small thing that i noticed was in a scene we see its performance reliability start to drop next to its head, but the joke that murderbot is so terrified to interact with people that it’s performance reliability actively drops because of it isn’t really mentioned at all, which on one hand i can appreciate as a little blink and you’ll miss it thing for people who read the books and also would be hard to mention, but that one part in the first book was so funny to me and i feel bad for all the people watching the show without having read the books who’ll miss out on it

Y'know the many scathing, negative reactions to the Adaptation actually start to annoy me/exhaust me.

Especially since Reddit of all places takes it more in the "Holy shit two cakes" stride.

Like, Kevin R. Free is an unparalleled Murderbot and reader, and my own mental image of MB isn't a white man.

But the show looks fun!

Martha Wells has said she likes it/is excited for it.

Apparently Skarsgard is a big fan too, and we got 7 Novels and 2 (or 3) Short stories that the Show won't suddenly change.

Why be so negative about a show that seems to give an honest try at adapting. It could have been so, so much worse.

i feel just the tiniest bit worried after watching the trailer, but only really about the action sequences, like i personally enjoyed the spin alexander put on murderbot, i think it looks really fun and socially awkward, but the parts where it runs at enemies with its hands up because that’s how the guns are build into it’s wrists looks so goofy to me 😭😭
