Okay here’s the thing:

Minecraft’s team will not continue to do biome votes if we can’t relax. People have their reasons for making their choice. Mojang plans to do all the biomes eventually, and with the rate they’re pushing out updates and the fact that the updates are still incredible quality means you will get what biome you want to see overhauled. You will get a swamp update. You will get a cave update. Just breathe. Minecraft 1.15 isn’t the last Minecraft update to ever come out. The developer’s panel showed just how excited they are about updating all versions of Minecraft and putting all they’ve got into every single update for a very long time.

Minecraft is a game that is not done being made. It’s still being developed, fixed, and tweaked. The game isn’t ever finished being made because of how Mojang enjoys updating it and giving us as a community new things to play with. They could’ve stopped at Minecraft 1.0. They didn’t need to continue updating it. The game had an objective and a story to follow. It had the same mechanics it does now. Minecraft continued to develop because we as a community wanted it to.

Obviously it’s unreasonable to ask everyone to not be upset because there was a sense of competition. However it is reasonable to ask people to just be a decent person and not bash anyone for their biome choice.

The fact is that 1.16 will have a Nether overhaul. Think about the fun stuff the Nether will have for you, because 1.15 & 1.16 is now. 1.17 and beyond is far away. They haven’t been decided yet.

Just be kind. Getting mad at someone over their choice does not change anything and it cannot change anything.

summary of minecon announcements for java:

- honey blocks. you cannot jump while on these and you can slide down walls easily

- target blocks, which when hit emit a redstone signal

- Nether overhaul! 2 new biomes announced as well as new pigmen (piglins) and a new hostile mob which is temporarily called a piglin beast

- mountains won the biome vote, which means that we will get the mountains update soonish

- character skins are completely customisable as in you could play as a literal model of a dinosaur now. sick

- scripting has been added. this means that the mechanics of minecraft can be altered by anyone in order to change the gameplay (think datapacks but smoother and way, way cooler)

- new emotes for players to use were added to bedrock. these are super flexible unlike java mods or datapacks which usually are stiff

- they showcased render dragon which i think will be available for bedrock soon

- capes are available with character models and you can get a free cape now from the store
