The astounding amount of beauty present in nature never ceases to amaze me, and there are few better places to find it than in the minerals and semiprecious stones native to areas all over the world.
Opals and Opalite have always been one of my favorites due to how their pastel hues catch fire inside the stone when hit by the most minute rays of light.
Despite my love of jewellery design, I find it hard to wear it on my hands or neck due to my occupation, so this post will be dedicated to my favorite opal and opalite body jewellery.
No one’s plug collection is complete until they own at least one pair of opalite plugs. One of their great features is that unlike other stones, which require larger sizes to display finer detailing, opalite plugs look great in almost any size, and are also available in a variety of styles, such as Mayan flares, faceted fronts, hexagons, triangles and pyramid studs, and of course, carved flowers.
The triangular plugs shown above are an interesting take on opalite jewellery, and fits perfectly with the geometric design trends that are currently filtering through fashion. The faceted fronts allow for optimum light reflection and maximize the display of the stone’s beauty.
Although opal stones are rarely available in large sizes in the context of body jewellery, small opal stones can be used either as accents in gemmed eyelets, as shown above, or as threaded ends, which instantly attract attention to otherwise unremarkable jewellery.
Another beautiful display of faux-opal stones are these Industrial Strength septum clickers, which attract attention and bring compliments to anyone wearing them.

Sapphyr's Purification & Protection Floor Salt Mix
by sapphyrwitch (Please do not remove credit.)
Supplies
Measuring Cup
Measuring Tablespoon
Measuring Teaspoon
Ritual Spoon
Large Bowl
Jar
Mortar & Pestal (optional)
Scooper (optional)
Ritual Music (optional)
Citrine & Clear Quartz Crystals (optional)
Working Candle (optional)
Ingredients
1 large box of Baking Soda (to deodorize carpet)
2 c.Sea Salt (to dehydrate/kill pests & purify)
2 T. ground Egg Shells (for protection)
1 t. Parsley (for purification)
3 T. Rosemary (for protection)
5 T. Lavender (for protection, purification, longevity & scent)
1 T. Sunflower (for protection & to guard against pests)
2 T. Marigold (for protection)
1 T. catnip per household animal (to protect animals)
Directions
1.) Turn on music if you like & gather supplies. Light your working candle and you’re ready to begin.
2.) One by one add each ingredient thinking about what each one does. Once all ingredients are added mix them while thinking or speaking a protective chant. I basically said over and over in my head thing like:
“Clean my mother fucking house. Keep the fucker protected.” lol
3.)Then once you feel like you’re done mixing pour it into a jar, label it & if you feel like adding a bit of OMPH like I did create a crystal grid around the jar to charge it. This is optional but since I work extensively with crystals & herbs I like to combine the two.
4.) When you are ready to use take your scooper (if you have one) and sprinkle it on the floor. You can leave it on as long as you like. I prefer to leave mine on for a full 24 hours. Then vacuum up. TADA! Your floor is cleansed & protected.
Tips
I generally do this during the waxing or full moon. The results seem to be better around this time for me but that depends on you.
If you don’t have one or more herbs or prefer to substitute another that is fine. Whatever works better for you.
Try to leave the floor undisturbed while the mix is on the carpet.
Wonderful!
Crystals to Avoid Using in Elixirs
—I made a few posts before about making elixirs with crystals by soaking them in water and leaving it under the moon (that’s just one method) and others. Then taking the crystal out and putting the mixture on your body or drinking it. I didn’t think about the fact that some crystals won’t be good to put on your body or ingest.. oops! Please look through my archive page to find the elixirs posts (there’s some good stuff in there) and then look at this post to see which crystals you can’t use, and try substituting for another crystal if you need to. Now again, as I found this on the internet, I’m not sure how accurate this information is, so please be safe and look up other information about your specific crystal if you need to (also, if you are allergic to some metals, you should definitely look up a crystal to make sure that metal isn’t in it. It’s not safe to put any metals in your body, but you can put them ON your body if you’re not allergic to it. If you are, it’s safe to handle the stones for a bit for spells and stuff, but you shouldn’t put an elixir made with that stone on or in your body). Anyway, here’s the info and the list:
—There are many crystals that should never be used to make elixirs or be ingested. The basic rule of thumb is that any stone containing metals should not be used, EVER! This includes most brightly colored blue and green stones as these often take their coloring from metals, and metals can be toxic in humans. Water leaches the toxins from the stone, which would then be ingested by you. Also avoid any shiny, metal-like stone because, again, most metals are toxic to humans. —Please refer to the list below when making an elixir to make sure that you do not select a stone that can cause you harm. When in doubt - do not use the crystal to make an elixir! There are always other crystals that will possess the same properties as the ones below and are safe to use. —The list below is by no means to be considered complete. There may be other harmful stones that aren’t on this list. please look up a stone if you’re not sure, or don’t use it at all. It’s best to play it safe! If you already know the basic make-up of a stone, go and check on an elemental table to see what all the parts are that make it up. Even small make-ups of metals taken internally can hurt you. We all know that all of the elements are important to our health and well being, even the metals…but in the right doses. —There is an advantage to wearing or laying on of crystals though when you are experimenting. In particular, they can be quickly removed and its effect will fade much quicker. If there is a specific area you are targeting, laying on the gem would be preferred. In most cases, a gem and an essence will compliment each other well when used together.
—You need to use caution with anything you ingest, read about warnings. Never, ever, EVER use Malachite (green stones), Lapis (dark blue stones), or any with sulphur/acid bases to take internally. You can be dead before you hit the floor! —You really need to understand the chemical make-up of what you’re mixing up or it can be fatal, deadly fatal. That said, properly made essences may be taken internally or applied externally, can be used for a variety of things, and can be very healing. —The Good News: Now don’t get excited, not all gems are bad to use. There are many that are very beneficial when used in an elixir. ~Some examples to safely use topically would be Amethyst for acne, Blue Lace Agate for puffy eyes, Moss Agate for athletes foot, Rhodonite for minor cuts and abrasions, and Rose Quartz for burns. — DO NOT Use Any Crystals From This List For INTERNAL Use!:

Haha And at least one of these contains nickel, which I am allergic too (it’s a common allergy, so make sure you aren’t allergic to it before using it outside your body. Whether you are allergic or not, DO NOT drink it). Again, if a stone isn’t on this list, please look it up to make sure. Please look to my elixirs posts too, for some ways to make and use elixirs. Stay safe, and have fun! :)

Gotta get my Herbal Remedy game on the UpNUP.
Concrete for your candles. Create this inexpensive and stylish DIY idea in just 7 easy steps: Using a cup, mix cement powder with water until it is a smooth paste (around the consistency of ice cream). Pour cement into container and lightly pound on table surface to remove any air pockets in the mixture. Then take your 3 small cups and put a few coins inside each. Push each cup into the cement, keeping them centered and allowing adequate space for votive candles to drop down once dry. Let it sit for 24 hours and then begin to cut/tear off the outer container. Once removed, let sit and dry for another 12 hours or so. Now you are ready to add color by taping off a bottom stripe with painter’s tape. Brush on an accent paint (we used Glidden Ripe Apricot) for the stripe and add color inside candle holes if desired. Finally, drop in votive candles, light a flame and you have a beautiful and afforable home accent.
For about $10, you can create this fun and funky candle holder. What goes great with this project? A playlist. Get your weekend “To-Do” to a “Ta-Da” listening to our favorite songs this week:

NEVER smoke anything around an animal especially small ones because their respiratory systems are really really sensitive and any amount of secondhand smoke can seriously injure them
please please please don’t subject your animals to that
they love and trust you please don’t hurt them with your habits
and witches: incense, sage sticks, etc. It is a good way to kill reptiles and small mammals, and it isn’t very nice for other pets either. If you must burn it indoors, keep the area well ventilated.
There’s less shit in incense smoke than the average cigarette but it still isn’t good to inhale smoke.
DIY CALENDULA OIL & SALVE
So, in my life we use lots of infused oils and salves (also known as balms) if you are a DIY creature like myself, you can follow these directions to make calendula oil. Calendula is great, I mean fantastic, for the skin. It is good for all manner of cuts, scrapes, bruises, rashes, dryness, or just about anything else that ails you skin wise.
So here goes. Things you will need
A jar with a lid
Calendula petals, Calendula officinalis, also known as pot marigold or garden marigold, get this one. Not random marigold or it won’t work. You can buy it here (I don’t get anything from linking to Mountain Rose Herbs, I just like the company.)
A chopstick, spoon, knife fork, something to poke around in the
Oil. Any kind of vegetable oil you like, olive, coconut, almond, etc.
First make sure the jar and lid are clean and bone dry. Otherwise you might get moldy bits in your oil.
Fill the jar with the dried calendula petals about two inches from the top.
Fill the jar again (leaving the calendula petals in the jar.) with your oil. Cover petals with oil by an inch or two this leaves room for the oil to absorb into the petals and get the goodness out. Poke around the oil getting out the air bubbles. Seal your jar and LABEL IT with the date, kind of oil and calendula. Do not neglect this. You do not want a jar of unlabeled oil on your counter. ‘Oh I’ll do it later!’ is something I have made the mistake of thinking.
Set it aside for about six weeks, you will see a color change. Then strain your oil, squeezing all the oils out of the petals, you want every last drop, reserve the oil sealing it in a clean and dry LABELED jar or bottle. You can use the leftover calendula petals in your bath, wrapped in cheese cloth as a body rub after your bath or on your skin. Toss the calendula petals into the compost after a couple of uses.
Calendula oil has all kinds of uses for wounds of the skin, for aches and pains, to reduce swelling, it can help grow new tissue and is used for slower healing wounds too. Until about 70 years ago was regularly used by doctors in the United States.
Now go out and do it! You can totally rock this DIY calendula oil. If your not feeling confident enough to it you can always buy calendula oil from me on Etsy. Feel free to inbox me with questions.
DIY Natural Ink Made from Flower Petals (by thesheerstories)
Since I apparently freaked some people out re: attachments, I’m bringing back my ultra juju defense sigil (affectionately called the Symbol of the Thousand Eyes)
Feel free to co-opt and post around your home, around your person, etc. It does what it sounds like it does. The tongues (scribbles) are hard to duplicate but as long as the structure is fine you should be okay.
#make sure to make the top arrow a squiggle though
Defensive sigil!
It looks like the eye of Sauron tripping balls, but if it works I can dig it.
What a sweet name - for a particularly sweet little flower that grows in abundance in gardens at this time of year.
The forget-me-not (Myosotis sp.) is related to borage and comfrey. It’s curious name dates back to Medieval times where in Continental Europe it was known as ne m’oubliez…
I want to become a pagan but I have no idea where to start. I'm starting to find nature sacred, and I'm finding beauty in everything, and I just feel like paganism is right for me.
Paganism is a blanket term, so not all pagans necessarily worship nature. Witchcraft is a practice, so it’s possible to be pagan/other path and not practice witchcraft but I’ll put a few links about it in here too.

Hello my pretties! With Beltane coming soon (1 May!!), Sabrina and I thought now would be the perfect time for a joyous exchange and the meeting of new friends! So here’s what we came up with! Up to 10 additional people may reblog and add the following to be included in the exchange of gifts; those not eligible for the gift exchange should reblog or like for networking purposes! Please include:
Name (linking to your URL), main path & pantheon if applicable, in or out of the broomcloset, your geographical area (sea, desert, ect); any items &/ information you could use for your workings; any colours, stones, symbols, ect you associate with; Want to be included in the gift exchange?
White/light magick users only; no black/dark magick users permitted entry in this exchange.
I will be updating this post with the information from the reblogs, as well as who is entered in the exchange / who their exchange buddy is. If you see someone on the list who needs items for sea magic, you happen to have access to a beach, send Billie at SpacePagans a message saying who you are & who you want to exchange with!! Also send that person a message. Of course, you must be comfortable giving someone your mailing address, which will not ever be displayed on any blog, only given to your buddy. You may exchange with more than one person! But remember this is NOT A GIVEAWAY - Exchange means giving and receiving!!
That being said, this exchange/networking post is for practising/beginning (friendly!) pagan folk only, just to avoid confusion! Supporters simply tag with “SIGNAL BOOST”!!
Remember this turn of the wheel is a time for new beginnings, happy reunions, beauty, and blooming!! So, please, reach out and strike up a new beginning with as many people as possible. Joyous and blessed Beltane to all!
