I absolutely adore how smart they've made You Shulang. In so many of these types of shows, they don't know how to write clever characters and still carry the plot forward, so they just make them miss things that are obvious to the audience.

But Shulang is smart. He gets manipulated by Fan Xiao, sure, but he doesn't miss whenever something slips. He catches discrepancies so quickly. He knows he's not being wise in letting Fan Xiao back in, but also makes it clear - slip up again, and this is over. And he's true to his word. He sets Fan Xiao up perfectly with the questioning of him and Zhen Zhen, while holding the truth in his pocket the entire time.

This man is not to be trifled with. I am so seated.
