Frankie almost grinned, “Bullshit.” She looked away from the man for a brief moment only to look back at him. “You really have no idea.” She motioned back towards where the commotion had been. “That’s not the worst that has gone down here.”

“oh, m’very aware, this little town’s fucked up, but I’ll take it over the city any day.” gabe shrugged, even the worst of the worst couldn’t make him regret his decision, so long as jonah was safe, he’d be happy to call this place his home.

Frankie was mostly out there because she was curious. Shit didn’t usually go down unless a Serpent or a Wolf was in the mix but she didn’t really know who this guy was which peaked her interest somewhat. “Well that was some shit,” she murmured to him from where she stood, leaning against a wall.

gabriel sparked up his cigarette, oblivious to the girl until she spoke. his eyes shifted and a small smirk tugged on his lips, “ain’t nothing to do with me, people in this town are fuckin’ savages,” he hummed, faking innocence as he shrugged his shoulders.

whether it was because kali was back or just his old self creeping back up on him, gabe woke up that morning feeling somewhat different to the man he’d become these past couple of years. having jonah around should have made him want to stay the better man, but all he realised was how badly he wanted to provide for them, then there was the matter of guilt, which had lead to his day drinking -- not a good place to start, but at least it wasn’t his usual choice of poison. trouble making at his finest, gabriel had stood between a guy causing shit with someone seemingly innocent in a bar and forced them outside with a few people following them outside. by the time gabe was done, those standing by watching seemed to get involved, all of them pouncing on the original aggressor without a second thought. yeah, he still had it.

“no, I don’t, I think that makes y’ more interested but it shouldn’t…” gabe shook his head, she always did seem to have a thing for trouble, or at least attracted it by simply existing and that was sure as hell true where he was concerned, considering he couldn’t seem to stay away, no matter how much he tried. he leaned into her kiss, forgetting their surroundings for a moment as his hands ran up over her thighs and to her waist, one planting itself in the small of her back to bring her closer while the other tangled in her hair. it took gabe a moment or two before he pulled back, “stop.” 

Inhibitions were placed aside for more than simple reckless decisions and that’s what Valeria became high off of. She enjoyed the chase, relished being right in the middle of trouble no matter what form it appeared as. The woman gently pushed her hips into his with a small rocking motion while her nails smoothly bit into the man’s neck as a way to take any form of physical contact he offered. Which didn’t not last long as Gabriel begrudgingly put it all to an end. “What? Too embarrassed for steamy public display?” Val pouted, sliding off of him and back to her seat, “Or too insecure to be seen with a former student?”

he appreciated her willpower, she’d been driven to get what she wanted and had somehow managed to convince him that she was sober enough to make the decision to at least listen to his objections. but gabe couldn’t bring himself to let go of his uptight nature despite how badly he wanted her, and how obvious that had become. he shook his head and wiped a hand down his face, looking her over with a hungry stare, unsure of how long it would be before he simply gave in. “neither,” he mumbled, unable to take his eyes off her, “I’m just not too sure I’ll be able to stop myself when it comes to drawing the line on steamy public display and live porno.” gabe slid out of his seat and rose, offering his hand to her with a raise of his brow, “get up.” his voice touched a growl as a more familiar, animalistic nature kicked in. he ushered them through people, ignoring the odd stare and whisper in their direction as he pushed valeria through the door and guided her towards his car, “I’m taking you home,” he explained, attempting to convince himself that it was his sole intention, “but first—“ his hand found the small of her back once more, pulling her closer to him to crush their mouths together. he hummed against her lips as his hands smoothed down her back and over her ass, squeezing tightly before his conscience kicked in once again, forcing them apart, “get in the car, val,” he offered somewhat breathlessly.

Kali smiled, “Yeah. He’s gonna be a heart breaker for sure.” She nodded her head, “Yeah you can see him today. Been asking a lot about you so I don’t see a point in holding off on the two of you getting to see each other.”

gabriel smiled warmly, breathing out a shaky breath and he wasn’t so sure whether he was nervous or excited but what he was confident of was the guilt that he felt. “I never wanted to miss out on his life, kal...”

gabriel gave her a sad sort of smile before his features undeniably lit up, “really?” he breathed, “can I -- can I see him today?”

“m’sorry,” he breathed, dropping his head, “I just couldn’t stay in chicago anymore, I told y’that, you could’ve come with me.” gabriel nodded his head, “more than welcome... how’s jonah?”

“you never did like listenin’ to her,” he grunted, shrugging his shoulders. “we’re divorced, kali, but you’re still the mother of m’child, I’m not gonna leave you to stay in a motel till you find somethin’ more permanent.”

Val cupped his face, lifting herself up and moving to straddle the man’s lap despite the public setting they were in. That hardly mattered when she was intoxicated.

Now that got a grin on her face. “Is this you making up for lost time or trying to get my mother to pack her bags before she can catch up with you?” She knew her mother would have a thing or two to say and while Gabe may have deserved that, it was something she wanted to avoid as well.

gabe chuckled, running a hand through his hair as he shrugged, “I know I deserve whatever shit she wants to throw at me, but she never really liked me to begin with, always knew y’could do better,” he shrugged his shoulders, “can’t blame me for wanting her as far away from this town as possible.”

The smirk wasn’t long on her and her lips seemed to almost twitch into a grin before she dropped it altogether. “With my mother. Don’t worry. She’s not staying the entire time. Just until I find a permanent residence.”

gabe frowned at the mention of her mother, who was sure to tear him a new one if she got the chance, but he settled somewhat with her reassurance. “you need a place to stay y’ can crash with me -- plenty of room, give me a chance to... make up for lost time.”
