it’s almost like arizona can physically see sora revert back into herself, her usual self-assured aura d i m i n i s h i n g before her eyes. & she had completely intended to stay mad at the intern, but she’s finding it increasingly difficult the more sora speaks. if her career was judged based on every wrong word she’d said, she wouldn’t have a career at all — still, she’s s i c k of being looked at as the soft attending. it only furthers the stigma that peds is a soft specialty. sighing audibly, arizona takes a seat on the couch, no longer prepared for a long, arduous fight. “ okay. i believe you, ” her voice is much more gentle now. “ but i’m serious when i say you can not speak to me like that at work. it’s unprofessional & disrespectful & i don’t deserve it & if it ever happens again, i promise to make your next few years at grey sloan a living hell. ”
and then it’s like she can finally b r e a t h e, days of feeling like she’s had to walk on eggshells now behind her --- now, she doesn’t have to worry about another fight at work, the added stress. however, sora knows that she isn’t entirely out of the woods ; that she isn’t going to suddenly be able to participate in surgeries and be off of arizona’s service because of this one conversation. but it’s a fresh start, of sorts, and that’s more than what she could’ve originally asked for. small hints of a smile tugging on her lips, sora nods. ‘ thank you.. and i know. i can’t and i won’t. since i’m on your service, i want us to.. get along. be civil. i don’t want anything to get in the way of that and what you can teach me, even if i’m doing scut work. i’ll make the best of it and won’t complain. ’
