im trying to learn more about sex and sexuality in the middle ages and last night i saw a documentary that i thought would be good but i could not stop rolling my eyes. there was a large part where two women were talking about prostitution (of course they called it sex work) and they were talking about it like it was this great girlboss thing women and girls in the middle ages did to rake in fat stacks of cash and I just felt absolutely sick. prostitution is fucking horrific, stop pretending it's this cool little thing you do for fun and to make money on the side. women then and women now are driven to it because, usually, they have no other choice.

I think it's fucking disgusting how trans identified males say "well women who can't have children are still viewed as women" as if infertile women haven't been viewed by men as sinful and shameful for being "barren" for most of history. you didn't give a fuck about these women until you could use them as a shield against people who call you out for going into the women's restroom as a man.

The idea "I can always tell when it's a man" is precious but I want to share a concern.
I think it unnecessarily invites long, tiring, pointless, and distracting debates with trans rights activists.
1. Passing doesn't make a man a woman. Saying we can always tell invites tests that will change nothing about sex and statistical risk except....
2. It increases risk as women cannot move away.
3. It is unscientific. No one can evidence they've never been fooled by concealment. We don't know what we don't know.
4. It invites conflation of secondary sex characteristics with the sex that commits sexual violence.
Yes, I can tell in loads of cases. You might be much better than me. They all get factored, often intuitively, even if a single thing is often insufficient: voice, hips, legs, height, skin, hair, smell, movement, chin, gait, posture, hand and foot size, a bulge, fat distribution, obvious prosthetics or caricatured mannerisms...
But again, by definition, we don't know what we don't know. You might be 100% right. But maybe not. Even if some people are never duped, many woman have poor facial and body recognition abilities and they matter, too.
My concern is that in private spaces, even same-sex ones, we tend not to examine people with eye contact. We're not on social media with time for examining pictures, or watching the news, where we already know the frame of the news item is about trans people. Voice - one of the more reliable indicators - is often absent in such spaces.
By saying we're never fooled, I'm concern we a) waste activism time, b) potentially lose credibility if we're wrong after setting the bar unnecessarily high, and c) invite successions of photos: "What about this person, then? Man or woman?" as though it frigging matters.
A man ('male at birth' if you're caught up in gender-woo) shouldn't be in women's spaces, sports, or rights, whether he successfully conceals his sex or not. Full stop.
By entertaining this 'passing' criterion as though it matters and is decisive, we give trans people a route into opposite-sex spaces and rights that should never be ceded anyway.
Unfriendly reminder that while you're busy mourning the loss of your childs old gender, claiming you need to mourn the death of your son/daughter, there's a group of boys/girls/enbies scrambling to take your kid clothes shopping, snatching up the chance to take those "first" experiences from you forever. Your sons first fishing trip is gonna be with his best bros, your daughters first makeover is going to be with her girl friends, your kids first camping trip out as themselves is gonna be with the besties. Good luck getting those bonding experiences back. While you're busy trying to guilt-trip your kid with your weird manufactured parental trauma, there's a whole community ready to take your place as the better family.

Reposting because OP blocked me, deactivated the reblog option and told those who reblogged my addition to kill themselves because I'm a radical feminist. But I think it's valuable information. Men are trying to domesticate women and favour signs of ignorance, vulnerability and submission no matter the ethnicity and sometimes not even consciously. While women want mature men. As feminists we often talk about the link between femininity and pedophilia (most notoriously illustrated by the removal of body hair, men favoring huge age gaps, faked incompetence to make men feel stronger etc) and it's nice to have scientific evidence on the matter.
