The fashion trend I chose to talk about is aviator hats. Aviator hats were originally used for open cockpits with high altitudes for the early 20th century, but are now being used for a vintage style. They were mainly seen being used in the 90s as a fashion trend but recently resurfaced as of 2023. They are described as plush materials like faux, suede, leather and quilted fabrics,They have oversized ear flaps that are often left undone. It frames the face and adds attention to overall appearance.
Analysis
Aviator hats have become a streetwear staple. Many celebrities and fashion influencers wear this fashion. It's usually for the cold weather and to protect your face. It was popular in New York due to the extreme cold weather they face, but it became popular throughout the U.S. Celebrities like Bad Bunny, Asap rocky, kanye west, and Rihanna. This is an important trend to follow as the hat itself provides function to the head and face during the winter months. It resonates with climate anxiety. The demographics that are wearing this trend are ages 18-35. All genders are mostly seen wearing this. The psychographics seem to stem from values that go into individualism, nostalgia, sustainability. People seem to want to have a sense of individuality and vintage aesthetic.
Trend Forecasting.
I do see the trend developing in the next 3-5 years because of how many people adhere to it now. And how the celebrities also adhere to it. I feel that major brands will want to be included with the trend also. The brands such as Chanel, Balenciaga and prada. I believe those brands should pay attention to those trends because celebrities will be able to wear them if they show it on tv.
