It occurs to me that I've probably never showed off my truly terrible (and enormous, and exceptionally warm) red heart super saver crochet blanket but here it is helping tiny bastard get comfy.
The blanket is a monstrosity.
It's 324 single-crochet squares whipstitched together. Every stitch of it is red heart super saver and it started as a way to use up all the scrap yarn I had left over from other projects.
It includes fun things like this accidental two-tone square:
And a bunch of unraveling edges because i put it together before i knew how to weave the ends.
It's probably about eight feet on a side and I'm sure it weighs like fifteen pounds or something ridiculous.
It's too shitty to give to someone else and I can't bear to unravel it or throw it away because it took SO. FUCKING. LONG. to make.
I see everyone sharing such pretty blankets! Makes me wish mine was more colorful. I just wanted to share the first blanket I've made(don't worry I see so many mistakes). I finished it in quarantine. This bitch dense, admittedly it is knitted and the pattern has a lot of texture so if I blocked it I'm might be bigger. I started it before christmas and kind of forgot about it.
The texture on that looks amazing.
I started this just to use up a few scrap balls of wool and ended up just keeping on going. it fits across a queen sized bed easily. the edge is an attempt at picot. it always reminds me of my cat Molly who passed away a while ago, she sat on it at every stage of construction and loved snuggling under it. both your blankets look so cosy.

Many different brands of yarn, intentionally pattern-free. The project was spearheaded by my grandmother, with lots of help from one of her old friends, my mother, and me. It can completely cover a long twin bed, and is warm enough for winter.
This is EXACTLY what the fuck I’m talking about. GOOD. SHIT.
The first thing I crocheted was a blanket for my now fiance. It was before I learned how to crochet rounds loosely so each squares' center has a freaking nipple. But at least my fiance and our cats love it lol.

My permanently-in-progress blanket made of mostly free yarn my sister got from someone at church and entirely composed of weird patterns I've practiced and then never actually used. It's almost colorful enough.

This is the first blanket I ever completed. It’s a good throw blanket size, I made it while I was bedridden before an upcoming surgery. I made another one for my mom later using fancier yarn and fall colors.

I love the diamond orientation of the squares and all the colors.
THANK YOU OMG I used a method referred to interchangeably as entrelac or Tunisian crochet that I found goes easier on my wrists and is relatively quick. I LOVE THE HUNORMOUS SCRAP BLANKET BTW HE’S GORGEOUS
I looked up entrelac and congrats, all of you who have posted entrelac blankets are officially terrifyingly powerful.

Today, I’m proud to say I finished my 2019 temperature blanket! 365 rows later, and this monstrosity is 65 inches tall and 42 inches wide. It’s so long that I had to stand on a chair to be able to hold it off the ground. I’m holding December 31st at the top, and January 1st is at the bottom.
The hottest day was June 11th, with a high temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The coolest day was November 28th, with a high temperature of only 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
I don’t think I’ll be doing another one of these anytime soon, but I’m really proud of it and will definitely treasure it for a long time. If anyone has any questions about doing one in the future, then feel free to ask!

@funny-ja and @webedragons asked about my color selection, so I thought I’d share it with everyone. This is a picture of the chart I was using, which I designed myself based on the average temperature of where I live and what colors I was using:
Based on the high temperature in Fahrenheit for the day, I figured out which color that day corresponded with, and crochet a row of that color for that day. Obviously, this specific range wouldn’t work as well if you lived somewhere that it actually got cold, but I live in Southern California, so I chose to have the lowest option be 60 degrees and below.

I love the tassels!! May have to do that, if I have enough yarn left over.
It isnt tassels, it's so much simpler! I held on to all my small yarn scraps that I couldn't do anything with and just cut them all to the same size. It was tedious, but I think it paid off!
