see the thing is you cant compare sashisu with itafushikugi one to one because itafushikugi doesn't exactly have a shoko parallel, because no one really left behind in that trio the way shoko was...and that's its own tragedy imo. that shoko was there too but never really a part of it. gojo says he was alone after suguru left. what about shoko? "i was there too wasn't i?" but that shit wouldnt happen with itafushikugi because they function differently as a trio..

anyway saying nobara is a shoko parallel just bc she's a girl is stupid. nobara simply isn't as passive or pessimistic as shoko is. and also, to me, with shoko and satosugu there's always this distance. it's especially obvious after suguru's defection where satoru and shoko both still obviously care for each other, but both of them think the other doesn't care as much as they do. shoko is pissed that satoru felt alone and satoru is pissed that shoko was just fine with the brain transplant plan. but they don't communicate any of this!! so they both think their care isn't fully reciprocated.

whereas with itafushikugi, i can't see any one of them thinking 'oh these two are leaving me behind' or 'they don't love me as much as i love them'. their dynamic is just different. actually, even if one of them thought this it would NOT be nobara lmao. it would either be megumi post-canon when he's dealing with depression or yuji pre-shibuya where he thought he was eventually going to be executed, but even that would manifest more like "they're going to be fine without me around". regardless, i maintain that itafushikugi aren't one for one parallels for sashisu no matter how you pair them up.

YEAH EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY shoko is a lot more avoidant and prone to withdrawing and like..keeping silent? in a way nobara simply is not. shoko does NOT like joining in on the problem or argument and intervening. you can say, maybe, that megumi could be avoidant i suppose, but like shoko's is just a different breed. because imo hers stems from a nightmare combo of misogyny + knowing she's not a sorcerer the same way stsg is (she never goes on missions and is doomed to stay in the morgue, saving sorcerers by only delaying their inevitable death and then dissecting them once they die) + knowing she will never be 'strong' + knowing she will never be close to either of them as they are to each other + always being left behind (half self-inflicted and half not) etc. etc.

like itafushikugi's dynamic simply ISN'T like that. they do NOT have that distance. they have their own problems (like megumi's depression who is fourth wheeling their friendship, nobara basically haunting yuji like a dead wife, itafushi's whole Thing, nobara and megumi having to deal with yuji's death and impending execution, etc.)

No one truly knows what is in Gege’s heart, but acknowledging misogyny does not mean a writer is automatically free from reinforcing it in their work. A story can challenge misogyny while still repeating harmful patterns in how it portrays female characters.

In JJK, the majority of female characters receive less development or are mainly used to support the stories of usually male characters. Riko’s death becomes a major part of Gojo and Geto’s development, Rika’s death used start Yuta’s character, Mai’s death pushes Maki’s transformation, and Yuki, the only female Special Grade sorcerer, is given far less focus than others at her level, with much of her role tied to her research and how her death affects other characters. Nobara was used for Yuji’s development and disappeared for a majority of the story, with her being brought back in the last second. Tsumiki existed as a motivation for Megumi then killed to cause pain for him.

This does not mean Gege hates women or that every female character is poorly written, but Maki and her moments that acknowledge misogyny do not erase the broader pattern of female characters receiving less focus.
