Hey there! Did you know FemHype is still looking to recruit more contributors for the team? Well, we definitely are. If you’re a woman who games, we want to offer you a safe space to share your thoughts. Submissions are open and requirements are all but nonexistent.
Our mission statement pretty much sums it up:
FemHype is here for many reasons, and all of them are yours to shape. We’ll analyze the pitfalls of an industry just barely beginning to feel the effects of growing pains. We’ll support the artists, developers, streamers, and other shakers on the front lines, armed with innovation and the courage to be pushing for more. We’ll reach out to the game enthusiasts and offer them a platform, a community of fellow women who game so that they can discuss what’s most important to them in an art that’s defined our very identities as much as it’s our ongoing hobby.
Let’s build a community of women who support each other in a space so often unforgiving, and challenge others in this industry to listen as often as they speak. It’s about time I fought for something I believe in. Will you be fighting for that with me?
Have something to say? We want to feature you! Your fellow girl gamers await to offer discussions and support. ❤
I did a thing for a contest and I think it turned out pretty durn cute
'Women In Science'
Chronological mosaic featuring nine awesome female Rock Star Scientists. • Ada Lovelace - considered the world’s first computer programmer for her work on Charles Babbage’s early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine. • Marie Curie - a pioneer in the field of radioactivity, as well as the first person honored with two Nobel Prizes in both physics and chemistry. • Lise Meitner - Nuclear physicist who was part of the team that discovered nuclear fission (when one atom splits into two and releases energy). • Barbara McClintock - ground breaking research in cytogenetics and developed the technique for visualizing maize chromosomes. Best known for her discovery of transposition and used it to demonstrate that genes are responsible for turning physical characteristics on and off. • Grace Hopper - computer scientist whose work led to one of the first modern programming languages. She also popularized the term “debugging” for fixing computer glitches after being motivated by an actual moth removed from the computer. • Rachel Carson - marine biologist, conservationist, and author who reported the dangers of the synthetic pesticide DDT and it’s effect on wildlife. • Rosalind Franklin - contributor to discovering the fine molecular structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal and graphite. • Esther Lederberg - microbiologist who devised the first successful implementation of replica plating and helped discover and understand the genetic mechanisms of specialized transduction. • Jocelyn Bell Burnell - astrophysicist who discovered the first radio pulsars (signals coming from rapidly rotating neutron stars). Some have called this the “greatest astronomical discovery of the twentieth century.” (now available as prints and tshirts at meganlee.etsy.com)

Hello!
I recently have written and produced a web series about five witches who mysteriously get powers, become witches and have to cope with each other and the forces that lie amongst them. I debuted my web series promo episode and wanted to link at least the trailer in hopes you’ll check it out!

Join us in October to celebrate a whole month of your favorite WOC characters in Marvel & DC Comics and their imprints!
What's going to happen?
This October, we’re taking this chance to appreciate and celebrate the WOC characters from Marvel and DC Comics. The event format is in Single Day Themes and Five-Day Themes.
You can find the calendar for the Fest here.
WOCtober Halloween Contest
Because October is Halloween Month, we’re hosting a contest with that theme. There will be four categories: Fanart, Fanfiction, Graphics/Manips, Crafts. Each category will have a grand prize, a second prize winner and a third prize winner. Post any of your fanworks and tag it as #WOCtober Halloween Contest to count as an entry submission.
More information about the contest will be posted soon.
Most importantly!
HAVE FUN THIS MONTH! We mean it! Nothing is strictly enforced, the calendar is more of a suggested guide, and we are not going to be policing anyone or demanding you to post a certain way. You can celebrate your favorite WOC in whatever form you wish, be it fanart, fanfics, crafts, fanmixes, introduction posts, fanvids, cosplay, everything is okay!! Just bring on the love for the ladies and go wild. The tags we will be using are #WOCtober fest or #WOCtoberfest.
Do note that we strongly encourage an emphasis on canon WOC Marvel/DC characters. Fanon racebending is fine, but it should not dominate this event.
This event is run by DCWOC, MarvelWOC, Lornahs & Sirdef.
Although I have to point out that there was a piece of speculative science fiction called The Blazing World published by one Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1666, slightly predating Mary Shelley.
This is the thing. Women have been doing awesome shit since there was awesome shit to do, we’ve BEEN THERE, if anyone bothered to look.
Oh, they looked. And then maliciously and willfully erased us from the books to keep anyone else from “getting ideas.”
Hell, the first named author in history? Enheduanna, a Sumerian high priestess, poet and lyricist. She’s known as the Shakespeare of Sumerian literature.
