Here's another Polytrix fic idea/premise that I have no full plot for but the idea is fun. It leans more queer platonic in vibes than other ideas I've had, but I feel it has more whimsy.
Anywho,
It’s based a bit off the anime Pass the Monster Meat, Milady, which I’d say is like a kinda mid, moderately cute anime. It’s not like spectacular in animation or story but worth a watch if you want to turn your brain off for a bit. The highlight for me is how both the main characters are loser simps for each other, it’s hilarious.
The idea I took from it is this:
Rumi is the younger sister of the Crown Prince Jinu Ma, however, due to Politics™ she ends up being adopted into the Ryu family when she’s very young (think like 6-7), becoming basically a Duke.
The Ryu’s aren’t a family maintained by bloodline, but primarily through adoption, as their main duty is to defeat monsters/defend the Duchy from the large monster population living around it. They have such a big issue with them due to the large amounts of magic in the area causing magic toxicity and driving the monsters mad. Which is bad when you have an unarmed civilian population anywhere near it.
Rumi takes up this duty, but due to her high magic capacity, she starts taking on some monstrous qualities (eg. Sharp teeth, golden eyes, pointed ears and claws). She becomes known as like, the Monstrous Duke or some such unflattering title. It makes finding a marriage partner difficult, cause while she doesn’t need to marry for bloodline reasons, she still needs to think about strengthening her territory, and marriage is the easiest way to do that.
Rest under the cut cause I'm not some heathen
As all young nobles do, she attends various parties to mingle with other nobles. Their main intent being to let people make connections with other families, and to find potential marriage partners. Because of her appearance, it's a bit difficult for Rumi to talk to anyone for any meaningful amount of time.
At one of these parties, she overhears a young lady (Zoey) talking animatedly with another (Mira) about how they can use the corpses of various monsters for things (which is often seen as weird, if not taboo in some areas of the kingdom), she's intrigued. Cause she has so many monsters, like all the monsters. She just burns them cause there was no safe way to utilize them with the amount of toxic magic in the bodies.
It takes several parties for her to actually learn things about them, like how Zoey is a knights daughter and close servant to Mira, who's the daughter of a Baron. She learns (eventually, as Mira often intercedes and is in general hostile cause people are often mean to Zoey) that Zoey is doing experiments with various monsters and has figured out some way to purify the toxic magic to some extent. A couple parties in and having listened to at least 3 full length lectures about monster biology from Zoey, Mira lets her sit with them without glaring a hole in her head.
Eventually, Rumi has an idea: She can't marry Zoey and bring her to Ryu lands, cause a Duke marrying a Knights daughter would look kinda bad from all angles (cause politics). However, she can marry a Baron's daughter with no issue, and Mira has already shown disdain for the idea of marrying some random man (Rumi isn't blind, she knows a lesbian when she sees one. Mira just wants to be a patron of the arts and in the same room as Zoey 90% of the time).
So, she proposes this: Mira marries Rumi and moves to Ryu lands, she becomes Lady Ryu and can do legit whatever she wants cause she isn't required to produce an heir. Along with her, Zoey would come cause she's her closest servant, and Rumi would allow Zoey to Frankenstein monsters to her hearts content so long as she works towards making monster corpses useful. (later she'll make her like, court alchemist or something so she can't be recalled to marry some guy for her family)
The main issue will be convincing Mira's family, cause after their daughter has rejected five billion suitors, they're not going to believe she just happened to accept a marriage proposal.
Cue this queer platonic polycule executing plan: Convince Unsupportive Nosy Temperamental Family Unit Coupling Kan Succeed. Aka Plan: CUNT FUCKS (not the final name of the plan, but Zoey is convinced it is)

This is the conservative/christian sign for abortion. This is the sign used by those who are pro-life. This is a sign that is sexist, that demonizes abortion, that is anti women’s autonomy and female rights. It declares fetuses as full babies someone is throwing away. This sign can be genuinely triggering to deaf women who have had abortions.
If you want to go full-neutral, you can finger sign abortion.

Do not spread the pro-life version. Conservatives specifically try to push their ways to sign things as the default. You are unintentionally helping overpower deaf women’s rights advocates.
