Went out for a quick pint and was able to find this gem, the S’Mores Porter by Drekker. It’s a nice, heavily flavored (so much on the good side) that really brings a sense of the mallow and a little chocolates the background. As someone that rarely enjoys a porter (usually lack of flavor) and worried the flavor will be weighed on the front end and not last, I’m extremely pleased with this. It’s not every day you order a beer that is not yet on Untapped. Sadly I won’t have the pleasure giving it a high rating on there. I would give it a somewhere between a 4 and 4.25 out of 5. I definitely plan on coming back for another. . . . #craftbrew #porterbeer #fargo #geeksonbrew #drekkerbrewing #smores (at Drekker Brewing Company) https://www.instagram.com/p/B09z_Y3FESk/?igshid=qe68zakrmoks
Finally played one of my favorite games after years of not, Splandor. It reminded me of how much I enjoy it and makes me want to play it just that much more. Excited I was able to share it with @_im_just_mi_ #boardgames #recomend #itsagoodday #finally #Splendor #SpaceCowboysUS @spacecowboysus https://www.instagram.com/p/BqQJqlvgU1h/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1boda33w41vzi
Sodburst - Fargo Brewery (6.1 ABV / 28 IBU) It’s described by the brewer to have rich chocolate and coffee notes in this porter. It does have a rich flavor and in the burst of flavors I get a mix of slight bitterness but not able to discern much more than that. It’s after it sits on the pallet for a little while that you can get the coffee and chocolate notes. The burst of stronger flavor quickly diminishes in a porter style but it does stay in a mild manner, that some others seem to lack. While I’m not typically a porter person, this is a pretty good one and wouldn’t mind having another one... or three. Happy thirsty Thursday! Cheers! #cheers #fargo #craftbeer #craftbeernotcrapbeer #craftbeerporn #craftbrewery #beerstagram #instabeer #craftbeergeek #craftbeergeek #fargond #thirstythursday (at Fargo Brewing Company)
Haze Craze - Fargo Brewery (4.9 ABV / 52 IBU) The Haze Craze is Faro Brewery’s session IPA and unlike some other sessions, it focuses on how easy drinking it can be with the Hellene of the Mosaic, Galaxy, and Citra hops. The balance of the hops allows it to be smooth and not so upfront with it being an IPA. With the ABV of 4.9, it seems to be a nice into beer to the style and still get someone a nice bus that might not be use to the craft scene. It’s one that I would recommend as an entry beer or one to casually drink if you wanted something easy to drink as you ponder what to drink next or what’s going on in today’s world. Cheers! #cheers #craftbeer #craftbeernotcrapbeer #craftbeerporn #craftbrewery #beerstagram #instabeer #craftbeergeek #craftbeergeek (at Fargo Brewing Company)
Anthesian India Red Ale - Double Bluff Brewing Co.
Anthesian India Red Ale – Double Bluff Brewing Co.
– Double Bluff Brewing Co. – Anthesian India Red Ale – 6.2% ABV – 90 IBU It’s a capped off IRA and allows the other flavors show through and don’t let the bitterness be the only thing that’s enjoyed. It’s a basic IRA in many aspects and doesn’t have a one note to it, but helps show the malts in it also. It also won’t scare off people who don’t want the kick in the teeth bitterness, but rather a…

CC Porter - Double Bluff Brewing Co.
CC Porter – Double Bluff Brewing Co.
– Double Bluff Brewing Co. – CC Porter – 5.3% ABV – 38 IBU It’s a semi heavy porter that showcases the malts in both aroma and the flavor. It has a slight bitterness tinge to it as you drink it. It’s a true porter that does well at doing what some porters fail at, showcasing what’s so great about the porter field.

Trade Winds - The Bruery
Trade Winds – The Bruery
– The Bruery – Trade Winds – Belgian Triple With Thai Basil and Rice – 8.1% ABV Rich spices that hit as soon as you take your first sip; while it can be over powering for some, it’s welcoming to those that are used to Belgian triple. It’s a style that I always enjoy drinking with friends; talk about the complexity of the flavor profile! It’s not a simple beer by any means, however, one that a…

Happy Monk - Double Bluff Brewing Co.
Happy Monk – Double Bluff Brewing Co.
– Double Bluff Brewing Co. – Happy Monk – Belgian Single with Bergamot – 3.7% ABV – 24 IBU It possesses a pleasant and odd flavor to it that I find difficult to describe. It’s like a less bitter orange, don’t get the citrus snap from it. It’s from the bergamot; as someone that’s never tried it, it’s a pleasant surprise.

Jardinier - The Bruery
Jardinier – The Bruery
– The Bruery – Jardinier – Belgian-style Pale Ale – 4.9% ABV It’s proposed as a fresh, Belgian style beer that a common person would have at dinner. If that is true, I rather wish I were a common Belgian person. The spices and hops stand in attention for you to enjoy with each taste. It’s not over powering’ due to being a pale ale, however it lets the general spice style and flavoring come…

Dad's Army -El Segundo
Dad’s Army -El Segundo
– El Segundo Brewery – Dad’s Army – English IPA – 4.5% As a person that was more of a fan of the Irish beverages than the English, this IPA is not bad to say the very least. The bitterness is dialed back, as expected. I’ve come to expect not very strong and possibly overpowering flavors that can scare some away from English food and beverages. The dialed back hops are due to the mixing of…

Berliner Weisse - Double Bluff Brewing Co.
Berliner Weisse – Double Bluff Brewing Co.
– Double Bluff Brewing Co. – Berliner Weisse – 3.5% ABV – 6 IBU It has a very berry flavor and a tartish finish to it. The tart is not overpowering and manageable, so if you’re not a fan of very tart beverages, you can still enjoy the beer. The golden yellow color helps to encourage it being a summer beer and for people to venture into something new and not be scared away by the taste.

Steve Austin’s Broken Skull - El Segundo
Steve Austin’s Broken Skull – El Segundo
– El Segundo – Steve Austin’s Broken Skull – IPA – 6.7% IPA Now looking back on the WWF/WWE wrestler, Steve Austin, he would crack open some cans of shitty beer and drink them all of the time, often enough in the middle of the ring. This is a pretty badass IPA that’s not afraid to kick you in the gut and bring you down to the floor. It’s reported in other places to have been designed by the man…

Pike Kilt Lifter - The Pike Brewing Company
Pike Kilt Lifter – The Pike Brewing Company
– The Pike Brewing Company – Pike Kilt Lifter – Scotch Ale – 6.5% ABV – 27 IBU It possesses a dark, cloudy brown color as it sits there waiting for you to drink it. The smell brings a hint of what a person would expect from a scotch ale. However, there’s not much more than that when it comes to the scotch and flavor of beer. It has a familiar flavor to it, where it reminds me of a generic scotch…

Smoky Hollow - El Segundo Brewery
Smoky Hollow – El Segundo Brewery
– El Segundo Brewery – Smoky Hollow – Scotts Ale – 8.1% ABV When a beer has a heavy alcohol in the title, you expect to have something that will be strong and carry that flavor to some degree. From the whiff alone, you know it has that for sure. The flavor profile is a pungent scotch flavor profile; however, it doesn’t hit the point of where it has you reaching for the chaser after each gulp.…

Dragonstooth Stout - Elysian Brewing
Dragonstooth Stout – Elysian Brewing
– Elysian Brewing – Dragonstooth – Stout – 7.5% ABV – 60 IBU It’s a rich, dark, and sultry style of stout, almost how I like my women. It has a strong and bold flavors on it that are apparent when it hits your tongue. The darkness reminds me of the dark rich chocolate present in the flavor. Just from the sip, I would argue that the ABV is at least a 9 and would never suspect the 7.5% that’s…

Hyperion's Vanilla Stout - El Segundo Brewery
Hyperion’s Vanilla Stout – El Segundo Brewery
– El Segundo Brewery – Hyperion’s Vanilla Stout – Vanilla Stout – 7.8% ABV The vanilla smell comes right off the top the glass as you take a nice sniff. The deep, rich, molasses from the stout comes through more than the vanilla as you drink it. It’s a deep and rich flavor profile in the beer. The vanilla does through in a subtle way, more complementary to the hops and stout style of beer.
