Not to sound like a concerned middle aged centrist but Tumblr #culture really is built to maintain an echo chamber lol. Like how many posts are there out there actively attacking the very concept of playing devil’s advocate. You literally need to take your #opponent’s arguments seriously if you want to counter-recruit or like just be able to deal w normal people at all because if all you can do is throw slogans and dogma at them and can’t deal logically w the substance of criticism people are throwing at you they’ll like see right through it & not take you seriously at all. It’s pure counterculture leftism. You need to like own socialism and freely expose your thought to #criticism from all angles to refine it into something useful & you don’t get that by shielding it w funnyman humour and being belligerent or by like guilting people into accepting you’re right before they actually understand what you’re saying.
Hi everyone! My name is Aron and I am a 24 year old graduate student in Orlando, Florida. I am also a transgender man! I’m currently studying clinical Mental health counseling in hopes of becoming a gender therapist for trans youth. There’s very few trans counselors in this field and it’s incredibly helpful to have a counselor who you know understands what you’re going through. I also have a stretch dream of eventually opening up a non profit for supporting LGBTQ Adolescents and teens who have been kicked out of their homes for coming out and need help with housing, food, skill building, case management, and counseling!
Regardless of my future goals and aspirations, right now I’m in a place in my life where I am struggling. My family is extremely right wing and catholic and will not accept me when I come out, I will most likely be kicked out of my current living situation and will have to purchase my own car insurance and health insurance so that I can continue getting to my job and continue getting the mental health care that I need. I have an incredibly supportive boyfriend and wonderful friends so as far as housing and food I should be okay in the short term, the main things that I will need help with are graduate school tuition, car maintenance, mental health care, and my transition costs.
I’ve been diagnosed with Bipolar II and gender dysphoria. This is a really fun mix when it comes to going to graduate school and working. My job is pretty good but I only work part time and my job is 30 minutes away, which really wears down my car that is constantly having issues as it is. I know that I need to start hormones and get top surgery within the next year before my mental wellbeing deteriorates any more.
My first appointment with my endocrinologist will be next week hopefully. I’ll have to have some blood tests done before I can start hormones which tacks on more money. Plus the hefty cost of top surgery in the future. I need to be in a good spot financially in order to begin this process.
