One of the best things about yoga (if not THE best), is that after each practice, you really do grow and you really do transcend into a higher self. You become enlightened by your own abilities and the miracles of your amazing body. You learn, you discover a lot about yourself, and you gain a great deal of humility. When all of this radiates from ourselves, we put peace into our lives and into the lives of those around us.

I am grateful for my body that never fails to meet me where I am; even when it does not meet me where I want it to, my body meets me regardless. Now how can I disrespect a vessel that does that? Love yourself, love your body and the beauty that it never ceases to produce and emit. Sat nam ❤️

Tonight, as I sat on my mat, I noticed all of the vibrantly-colored, psychedelic-patterned Yogitoes around me. I looked at mine and noticed its dull, faded solid color (Yogitoes got fancy over the years), and thought, "This towel is as young and old as my yoga practice, and it has carried my sacred place for almost six years. It has literally carried my sweat and tears. More so, it has carried me through my moments of self-discovery, both good and bad, but all teachers. I have not always remained faithful to it, yet it has never turned me away and it has welcomed me wherever I was coming from or going to in my journey." It is honestly difficult to stay true to myself and to my yoga practice when I come on social media and see the hype- the popularity of certain yoga clothing brands, the overuse of the same several hashtags, and the growing trend of handstands/inversions/arm balances that so many people associate yoga with. When did yoga become so vain? When did we forget that yoga can just be moments of stillness and breath, that yoga is not just Asana? There are no goals in yoga, just growth and the discovery of Self. Because as I've always heard from my teachers and as I have even shared with my students when I taught, "Wherever you are in your practice, is exactly where you should be. And that is a beautiful thing."

It's been a few months since I've had work done on this piece, but I was able to get an hour of work done last night. It is still pretty swollen and sore, but here's the progress! The outline of the Big Dipper on my inner arm. I love it so much!
