🏴🏳️‍🌈  HELP US BUILD A QUEER ANARCHIST CAMP IN SLAB CITY 🏳️‍🌈🏴

Slab City is the largest squatted space in the United States where hundreds of people live for free without rent, corporations, or bosses. Comprising about one square mile of land, the town is filled with camps made up of trailers, rvs, busses, and hand-built pallet structures with little to no police presence.

My girlfriend and I are building a camp which we hope can be a home for other queer anarchists to temporarily or permanently stay. Our hope is that this camp can be a space that serves the larger community and advocates for an anarchic way of life in Slab City.

We are trying to build a community center which can host events and a series of horizontal cooperative organizations which attend to the needs of the people living here such as food, water, sanitation, electricity, and communications.

We also want to build a workshop where we can produce and repair electronics from salvage and can repair and modify machinery such as water pumps, cars, and other important equipment.

And finally we want to produce a zine library and print shop where we can carry useful information about anarchy, ecology, queer life, and self-sufficiency.

In order to do so we need tools, hardware, equipment, and infrastructure.

That's where you come in.

We need donations of money or physical goods to start our camp and become self-sufficient.

URGENT

Hola!! Wanted to update my situation of the last post.

I still have my tumor, so long it appears to be benign, but it is still urgent to get it surgically removed ASAP. Im looking at ways to make up the 5k i need, we have no family or friends to ask for help nor we have any kind of insurance.

We're so grateful for all the help we've got but I'm afraid we haven't landed any stable job/income and soon the only food we'll have is mayonnaise. We haven't been able to have proper showers the past 3 weeks as the boiler is busted.

Just $200 could go a long way, just $50 could help us fix the boiler and the other $150 we'll stretch them as far as we can for food to reach the new year.

Saturday, December 31st: Hello everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill, and disabled woman, who is in desperate need of help, as I'm struggling to pay my rent which I'm just over £200 short in doing!!

I'm so sorry to be asking for help again, but as most of you are already aware from my previous posts, my sweet 14-year-old dog Luna passed away on November 23rd. I've been struggling not only to pay her vet/cremation fees, but it has also left significant pressure on me to make other ends meet with overdue bills, and PayPal chargebacks while already on a strict welfare budget and awaiting a response from my ADP (Disability) application.

And at the present moment, I'm struggling to pay my rent and get groceries as the U.C. welfare I received yesterday wasnt enough to cover my overdrawn accounts and bills and unfortunately, I'm £248 short on paying my rent & council tax WHICH IS DUE TODAY, and with it being nearly five weeks until my next welfare payment, I need to get enough groceries to last a few weeks, or at least until the end of January!!
