Here's a short fanfic I made inspired by a friend's au!
The fireflies hummed in the field, moonlight grazed upon the grass, all was peaceful. Everyone near was asleep, everyone except for two boys.
“That one right there is Cassiopeia!” Ivan exclaimed, the dark haired boy loved stargazing, so he had to share the joy of it with his best friend.
“Where?” Till was tired from practicing music all day, he wanted to sleep but was instead lying in the grass cuddled up with his best friend staring at the stars. Though he couldn't be too mad, it was the most relaxed he’s felt in a week.
“The one with the five bright stars in a W shape!” Ivan softly moved Till’s head to face the constellation he was talking about. “The stars all have names too! There's Schedar, Caph, Gamma, Ruchbah, and Segin!” Ivan kept talking about the stars, Till moved his face to look at Ivan. The gray haired boy admired all of his friends' features, how his face lit up when he got to talk about his interests, and how his dark eyes reflected all the star's light. Till could see the galaxy in Ivan's eyes, and never wanted to stop staring.
“Did you know that Cassiopeia is named after a queen?” Ivan’s question made Till snap back to life.
“No” Till spoke softly and turned back to the stars, embarrassed by Ivan noticing his staring.
“Cassiopeia was a queen of a country in the northern coast of Africa in Aethiopia. She boasted that she and her daughter were so beautiful, even more beautiful than the Nereids, who are the 50 sea nymph attendants of Thetis, the sea goddess, and Poseidon. They got really mad because they were also Nereids, so they begged Poseidon to punish Cassiopeia, so he sent a flood with a sea monster to destroy her kingdom. Cassiopeia's husband asked an oracle who told him the only way to stop the monster was to sacrifice their daughter, Andromeda. She was chained to a cliff by the sea to be eaten by the monster, but she was rescued by Perseus who had fallen in love with her. He offered to kill the monster and rescue Andromeda in return for her hand in marriage. Cassiopeia and Cepheus reluctantly agreed, but once she was rescued they tried to break their promise. Cassiopeia and her husband were put in the stars as a punishment.”
“Wow.” Till was in awe at how much Ivan knew of the constellation, though he shouldn't expect anything less than that from the dark haired boy.
Silence fell upon the boys as Ivan admired the stars and Till admired Ivan.
“Personally” Ivan turned to face the gray haired boy, “I think that you are the most beautiful”
Till's face turned to a bright red hue, “Oh, um… thanks” he wasn't really sure how exactly to respond to the sudden words of affection, but as he looked deep into Ivan's eyes, Till knew exactly what to say
“You have really pretty eyes”
Both boys stared into each other's eyes in silence, their breathing synched. They smiled softly at each other and cuddled closer together. The rest of the night was peaceful, the boys fell asleep in the field, relaxed for the first time in ages.
