(LOOKIT!! CANDLELIT DINNER!! HAPPY THINGS) 

Spock had been researching human dating. He wanted to do something nice for Tiberius. Step out of his comfort zone and attempt to be romantic. It was difficult to find things that could be done on the ship. A candlelit dinner however, seemed to be quite popular, and possible. 

He set up some of the candles that he used for meditation on the small table in his own quarters. He used the replicator to make everything he knew Tiberius liked and laid it all out. He changed into some casuals, dark jeans and a black button up shirt. He lowered the lights and the temperature so it would be more comfortable for the human. 

Once he had everything perfect, he sent a message to his lover. 

[PADD Message: Tiberius, would you please join me in my quarters?]

"That’s cheating," Tiberius laughed, vainly restraining himself from throwing in a childish ‘I asked you first.’ He speared a potato, smirking slightly as he chewed. He thought the question over in that time, tilting his head slightly.

Swallowing, Tib turned his gaze back to Spock, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. “I vote we watch a mystery.” It’d be fun to watch the Vulcan try to puzzle through the answer- especially if it was a film Tiberius had already seen- a logic-oriented man trying to find ground in a landscape of red herrings and deliberately-erroneous clues. “That should be entertaining.”

"Something I learned from you and your brother." He smiled a little, taking a sip from his glass of tea. Spock nodded, watching the blond across from him. "A mystery sounds amusing." He agreed, taking a bite of rice, dark eyes following blue. 

The half Vulcan was enjoying himself. This was new and strange territory for him, dating. Seeing how happy it made Tiberius however, made it completely worth it. He wanted to make the other man smile more often than he currently did. Making him upset was something he seemed to be quite skilled at. “Do you have any in particular in mind?”

"The Red Sky of Delta Vega Prime is always a good one." Okay, so it was maybe classified a little more 'horror' than mystery but it certainly counted as both. "And before you say anything, I know there isn't such a planet as Delta Vega Prime. Suspension of disbelief, alright?"

Ducking his head, Tib swallowed a healthy portion of his food. Too quickly, even. He smacked himself on the chest, taking a generous gulp of water before going back to his food.

"I believed that was what you wanted." Spock replied, a small frown taking over his face. "You would not so much as look at me. I decided it was better to give you time rather than start another fight."

"Yeah, I get that," he muttered under his breath, pressing his forehead into the half-Vulcan’s shoulder with a more insistent pressure than before. He let Spock’s touch cluster him closer to the other man, loosely wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "I’m just not especially happy about it."

That disconnect frightened him just as much as Spock’s tendency towards martyrdom. He seemed to be trapped in the delusion that his life or death meant nothing to anyone… Frankly that thought made him inestimably sad for what Spock’s life must’ve been like, growing up.

Spock nodded slightly, his hand settling against the other man’s lower back. “I am aware.” He said quietly, letting out a soft breath. His head lowered, allowing him to lean it gently against Tiberius’. “I am sorry..I cannot say it enough to make up for what I’ve done.” 

His arm tightened slightly around him. “I promise that I will make every attempt to do better in the future. I never meant to hurt you..I would never intentionally hurt you..” The Vulcan added, keeping Tiberius close.

"Good," Tib breathed into the trepidous silence. The air shifted around them, a wash of heat against his front that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand from the differential. It was far more intimate than it had been the moment before their foreheads had touched, shifted like something electric trying to find the fastest path out of him and into something else. "Please don't."

His fingers shifted slightly against Spock's back, splaying across his scapulae. He only needed to tilt his head slightly, mouth parted on a breath- Tiberius pressed their lips together sweetly.

"It doesn’t take much energy to eat a good meal and cuddle in front of a film, Spock," Tiberius chuckled, beaming at the other man with a charmingly lopsided smile. As much as he enjoyed three-dimensional ‘projection experiences’ when he was bored and up for something different, he was still very much fond of the flat-screen drama when he was still awake enough to be mentally active but too drained to try.

And he was always, always up for cuddles. (Okay, not always. Not when he was furious or rampaging. But even then he liked to be gripped and kept hold of. And even then it was refusing cuddles from a specific person, but he still wouldn’t mind them from someone he wasn’t angry at.)

"Do you like action or drama or mystery better?"

"Alright." He smiled softly at the kiss to his hand, the contact causing a slight shiver to run down his spine. "I am looking forward to it. I am pleased that you are enjoying yourself. I was worried that you may have been too tired."
