that “negative kudos” poll really got me lol i have a full time job and a family. do you know what that means lol. I don’t think many people know what that means? it means i have maybe 1 hour MAYBE 2 hours a day that are mine unless i sacrifice sleep. and i use them to write fic most of the time and then i chose to post it online. And there is a subset of people that exists out there that thinks they can and should be able to publicly dislike or negative kudos your fic if they don’t like it instead of just continuing to scroll or hitting back. man no wonder so many people are so easily turning to AI, this unfeeling unflinching thing that just gives and gives more and more slop but who cares about the quality or the person who made it as long as you can just demand more and more and be given more and more. Fic and fanart are not products, you do not get to “review” them. We call it commenting because it’s not a review. And kudos doesn’t reflect on quality, it means thank you for sharing. if you feel the need to complain about something someone used their precious and rare and still valuable time to create for you for free, keep scrolling or literally just die

some people act like its so embarassing to be into fandom as a woman in your 40s and 50s but suddenly embrace it when a 60 year old lady is really into spirk or whatever... its weird. realistically all the people who wrote those pillars-of-the-community masterworks in the 2000s are floating around someone in that age bracket now...... same goes for all of those who kept this or that show on air in the 90s, running forums like the navy... not to mention all the women who discovered this stuff late and are experiencing a new lease of life. how can u not find that kind of beautiful? i support u, middle-aged women of tumblr and ao3....

*Additions* A huge huge thank you to the lovely @expektcle <3 for their recs for reminding me of authors I forgot to include (it'll happen again) ->Closer to God, force majeure by Mother_North *in the prosenna list and for being a 'lifesaver?' by sending me this one -> Irrevocably by Anonymous *added to the list as damon hill & ayrton senna Teammates Damon & Ayrton, Imola... but through Damon's pov. The fact that.... it’s such a fascinating topic to explore (the strange dynamic between these two at that very fragile moment) and yet there’s never been a single fic about it anywhere, ever (as far as I know).... has always been a mystery to me *but after all, Damon wasn’t that popular or well known/didn’t attract much attention for a long time. So here we have Damon trying to understand Ayrton, the two of them trying to get to know each other/gauging each other's sincerity, the Williams 'in question' (this recurring question, which Senna keeps bringing up - something that’s perfectly normal for a driver but of course takes on a whole new dimension here - is used very simply but so effectively in the narrative) and the looming disaster that was Imola. The fic dates from 2006... which I love even more (because of the perception at the time). I find it moving and precious to discover it twenty years after. Bless this writer. At least, something exists <3 There is a great deal of accuracy in the scenes, character study.... The fluidity of writing makes this harmony of form and content possible without effort. What I find so 'accomplished' lies as much in the scenes imagined by the author as in the real ones.... And then I thought about the Hill Documentary...
