Um. No. I do not want to help you promote your shop selling stolen artwork on clothing, including MY OWN artwork… thanks.

(I know that I sort of am helping to promote it by posting this, but I’m hoping that people realise that companies like this selling very cheap clothes are often doing so by stealing artwork and clothing from other designers.)

Ok, so I got this message this morning from beautifulhalo.com and after a friend pointed it out to me I found out that this was the exact same message Gemma Correll received. I’m now concerned that as I am an illustrator like her, my work may be being used in some of their clothing completely without my permission so please let me know if you see my designs being used on this site. 

I also found another example of this company ripping off a UK brand within two minutes of scrolling through their tumblr feed, the brand Lazy Oaf which works with many illustrators globally to design their clothes:

Tumblr users, please do not fall for this scam. The brand are using a ‘tumblr affiliate programme’  to try and get people to post their clothes in return for giving them free clothes that are using designs stolen from artists and illustrators on tumblr and being used without their permission.

Please signal boost this, and make people aware that this is happening. Do not trust this website or allow them to continue stealing from the arts community on tumblr.

Hi folks, I’d like y’all to know that I did NOT give Sheinside.com permission to use my artwork*. I’ll concede that it does look pretty good on that baseball shirt but, still… please don’t buy it.

In fact, I’d recommend that you don’t buy anything from sheinside, as their clothing ‘designs’ are all stolen from other brands and artists. They are cheaply made, bad quality items from China. We also don’t know how ethically sound they are as a company (ie. how do they treat their workers?)

Again, please do not buy from Sheinside.com. If you’d like one of my designs on a shirt, go to Society 6, or Urban Outfitters (for Pugs Not Drugs).

Thanks.PS. for those who are asking… Yes, it’s copyrighted but it is extremely difficult to assert copyright laws on products from China.

That is NOT what I am saying here.

I mean that we don't know how they treat their workers because there is nothing about it on their website and nothing (that I can find) online. Also, companies that sell very cheap clothing do not generally treat their workers well (see: Forever21, Primark - companies all over the world - there are plenty of articles about this online).
